So i think I have the worst luck so far. Ive been hunting JBLM and going to the same area again and again. I have had a deer skirt around me, walk up to me in the dark and leave and tonight I drove by that spot and two does were crossing across from my spot. It seems the hunting gods are not with me so I can seal the deal. I will keep trying since I only have the early season to hunt. Any suggestions to bring them in? Ive been on top of my sent control and been using a climbing tree stand. I am on a pathway that intersects like 5 trails. Should I try a little calling?? Looking for ideas.
Thanks

So I came down to the last few minutes on the last day of early season. I went out to a new area on lewis and setup my climber. Nothing happen till late in the day. I had a nice doe and a fawn walk right under my climber stand. So I had a 4 yard shot which was cool and the best part was the 15 yard recovery! I cant believe my luck. I guess it pays to be patient, I thought for sure I was going to eat tag soup. So thanks for the comments and the encouragement. Ill get some pics up later today!!

Also some tips for jblm hunting. Find oak trees, choke points, and use a tree stand. Move often and find where the deer are. They are there but just really hard to find!

Stomp a bunch of apples out in front of you. They seem to be able to smell those from a mile away. :chuckle:

Very nice. Way to get it done in the clutch.

Well done! Sticking with it. Seems to be the hardest part. They can certainly discourage you at times. I feel your pain there.

Thanks for all the comments, Its been a long season. This is my first and sadly my last for the NW. I will be retiring from the Army in the next few months and heading out. I can say this has been the most challenging and rewarding hunts ever!!
-
Congrats. Is this a bow kill?
-
Yes it is, my first!
-
So, did you shoot the doe or the fawn? :dunno:
-
Congratulations, and thank you for your service! I'd rather fill my tag on the last day of the season. The victory is just that much sweeter. Way to persevere.
