... she'll wake you up in the middle of the night! Little buggers clanking and banging around the chickens at 3:30 in the morning.... Managed to take out three of the four, one of the youngsters got away.
I just wish it were December so the fur would be worth something.
-
Way to weed a few out!! Problem is too many huggers find it is nice to feed those pests cat food, etc.
-
-
Time for some coon stew!
Cooked up just like beef stew... I don't think anybody would notice.
-
No more 'coon bbq....no thank you!
Nice job by the way.

Awe come on, there's gotta be another HuntWa BBQ coming up.... I was thinking of trying some racoon pepperoni or brats.
-
Great job, so the fur isnt worth a darn right now? dang I was going coon hunting tonight :bash:
-
had two come up on my porch last year. look me straight in the eye and went back to eating cat food. absolutely no fear in them.
got one of them the next night. shot in the snout with 22lr. havent seen the other one since.

It seems too early and too warm for the fur to have gotten decent. I seem to recall in the trapping class that they said prime racoon has a pretty small Nov-Dec-Jan window. I might be wrong though.
-
Thanks I will hold off then till novemeber
-
Nice shooting
I had coons come for dog food once about 5 yrs ago. Hit 4 out 5 with my kids Red Ryder BB gun. Never been back :chuckle:
Coon huntin is fun
-
Had one of these tirds get into our coop and kill a couple of my wifes chickens late last winter. Unfortunately it never came back. I was gonna have its a** stuffed. :bash:

Don't ever go down the 5-Mile Drive in Tacoma... they're ridiculous out there for that reason, hand fed by everyone.

That's what a racoon treat and a fish bat is for... :chuckle:

Don't even need to bother with the treat, if you stop your car and roll down the window they literally come running at you lol.. (this was a cell phone pic with no zoom so they pretty much try to jump in your car with you)

so you could go hunting with a bag of chips and a hammer :chuckle:

That would fix having to sew up a hole in the hide.

Nice
Neighbors had a family move in under their house. Didn't know it till it started to smell. $5000 to repair the damage :yike:

I know why you've got a soft spot for them, either A. someone pushed that soft spot in your skull a little too often when you were an infant B. you donate to HSUS or C. you've never had chickens or rabbits. :chuckle:
Racoons are evil on four feet.

Where are the hounds?
I wish I had coons like that where i live...
-
I've been wanting to try a little hound action out here when the pelts are good..... I can't think of anyone here that would miss any racoons.
-
Well, the dog was acting funny this evening, couldn't figure what was up, in and out and in the doggie door. Watching a little TV and clunk outside... dog didn't stir, dang she's always been a sound sleeper. So, I go to the kitchen door and look out, there's a coon on my railing over the dog bin. Forgot to reload the shotgun after the last episode so grabbed the .22 mag and flashlight.
Silly racoons think that a trellis is a tree. :chuckle: Four shots later, two coons on the ground. I realized I didn't even use the scope. Not bad for instictive shooting --- four holes in two coons. 8)

Racoon STEW!

My aunt and uncle who own a farm fairly close to me just posted this on their facebook.. guess they were after the chickens too.

thats a nice stack of coons there!
-
Not too many coon's around my place anymore. Still a couple but not like they used to be. The possums pushed them out. I see possums every morning on the way to work now
-
Saw a bunch of racoon poo full of apples while ML hunting last night with my daughter, might be fun to put a sneak on the orchard one of these nights.
-
That's some darn good coon shootin right there!

Just had two or three more on the back deck, I knocked one out of the tree, I could just see a shine of an eye. Some blood there but nothing after two more shots at close range in the salmon berries. Ithink I hit the one on the deck as well, no blood but no .22 hole in the deck either. Luckily they were on the back side of the house as the silkie chicken coop was still open. :yike:
It is just not as satisfying without bodies to show though. >:(
-
You need to extinguish the coon population on that island. Shouldnt be to hard with less than 4 square miles :chuckle:
-
I might try some hound hunting this winter, could be fun. There are way too many large off-limits areas to eliminate them.
-
I would think the only real way to put a dent in them would to trap them.... Perhaps you should get your trapping lic. Does everyone think coons are their pets also?

Two less for the hounds. I think I'll skin these two out in the morning since they are big ones. Two males, one at 19 1/2 pounds and the other at 21 pounds. :yike:
Good thing I have lots of crap laying around the yard for them to make noise on.
Might try some pepperoni as well with these.
-
Dang! Them are some big suckers :yike:
-
No kidding. I think these are the second and third largest I've gotten out here. Best part is the PJs and flipflops. :chuckle:
-
The socks kick it up a bit :IBCOOL: :chuckle:
-
Forty nine inches nose to tail on these two.
-
-
im tellin ya loki youre missing out on some good pets, just lock the chickens up.
-
Couple bigguns there, Loki. And you look like Dennis Quaid...
-
Those gotta be B&C coons :yike: :dunno: :chuckle:
-
I know a guy that used to boil the coon carcasses & feed them to the chickens.
-
Way to weed a few out!! Problem is too many huggers find it is nice to feed those pests cat food, etc.
It is nice to feed them. For desert I like to feed them lead.
-
Racoons eat chickens.
Shoot racoons. Split them open a bit and hang high in chicken yard.
Flies deposit spawn, maggots eat racoons and drop into chicken yard.
Chickens eat racoons...

I taught there 1998-2000 Biology. Sweatshirt is from the lost and found at the end of the year. ;)

I have a 20 pound Maine Coon cat that chases raccoons up trees like a hound dog. One night he treed 5 coons in the oak outside our bedroom window. He sat at the bottom of the tree howling. I ran out, saw what was going on and made it rain coons with my .410! :chuckle: Damn good cat!

Are you trying to say there is a use for cats besides shark bait??? :chuckle:
-
Yes. :chuckle: My Maine Coon is a killing/treeing machine and he is pushing 14 years old. He also corners possums, kills moles, squirrels, rats, etc. Luckily my chickens have been left alone by the coons. My cat chases them away before they get the urge to dig under the fence.
