Title: Opportunity: Ask a Question - Department of Interior Secretary Jewell Live Chat
Post by: huntrights on September 20, 2013, 05:32:40 PM
This is an excellent opportunity to ask Secretary Sally Jewell questions about the Department of Interior.

For example you might ask about the closure and decommissioning of roads that access national and state public lands.  The closures and decommissioning of these roads prevents all people, including the young, elderly, and disabled from accessing the public lands where the roads have been closed or destroyed.  There are viable alternatives such as the roads to trails concept.

Public access to public lands should be maintained for all outdoor recreation, forest management, and public safety purposes including hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, mountain biking, rescues, firefighting, and emergency evacuation to name a few

Take advantage of the opportunity.

Thank you.

Good point.  The Department of Agriculture and Department of Interior are separate.

However, the Department of Interior does have control over the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to name a few agencies.

The BLM also manages forests.

It's always a good idea to clarify things.  Thanks.

If you have questions for the Secretary of the Interior, this is a good opportunity to ask.

REMINDER:

The Department of Interior has control over the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to name a few agencies.  There is still time to submit a question regarding the activities of the Department of Interior and/or any of their subordinate agencies.  In what way is the Department of Interior connecting the next generation to the great outdoors?  We need to make sure their efforts include promoting hunting activities.

The live chat will be tomorrow, September 25th, at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
