Sorry for the tease guys but no pics yet. While moose hunting this weekend we stopped in at a local corner mart for a couple morning drinks before hitting the hills. Dressed in camo the gal at the counter was curious what we were hunting for, I told her moose. She said good luck and told me her son-in-law had taken a nice bull elk during archery season and proceeded to show me the pic. :yike: What a monster for the area. It was palmated around the G5's and had multipul extra points, not too bad for an area not known for big elk. I wrote down the site address and asked her to have him post the pic and say hello, lets hope he does it!!!
-
I'd love to score that sucker! Hope she posts some pics.
-
People keep this hush hush around here, we know what we have.last year in just one area there were a 341 and 347 bull taken and a pending #2 archery at the time.
-
Come on guys, theres no monster bulls around Colville, there all in the Margret unit. ;) I thought you guys knew that :)
-
Hopefully he shows them I would love to see that monster

Hey POA, have you seen the bull or the picture, It was in Millers.
-
Well next time you go past Millers go check out the pic, its a hawg in any state.
-
Hey if you see Bigfoot AKA My X wife, could you put her down for me? :chuckle:
-
ive heard rumors of this elk but have yet to see any pics...i also dont think it was taken anywhere near the salmo priest...much further west and a little south
-
I stopped by and talked to the lady who's son in law got the elk. She didn't have the picture with her today, she said she would tomorrow morning so I will try to get a copy and post it.
She said it was a 9x11 or 9x12 and should break the state archery record easily!

Yeah I saw the pic and it's a hog for sure but I thought Thorpe's bull was scored as a non typical? if so it wont beat that but it's big!
-
Yes Thorpes is scored non typ at 421 and change, if its bigger than that it is a hog! I beleive thorps grossed like 434. Its also entered as typical at 392.
-
I doubt its that big but its still a hawg
-
Who's Thorpe, and where can I see a pic of his bull?
-
Jeff Thorpe, think he's from Ellensburg. You can try googling it, i found a picture once on there in the past.
-
Here you go I found that Kings did a repo pic of it ... it's huge! at 421 that bull we saw at millers wont come close! ... I think momma is proud for sure but her son wont challange the non-typ WA record, I think this bull ranks #7 in the world for non-typicals!!!!!!!! :o

I saw a picture of the bull. The thing looked like a large caribou. Crazy.
-
I wonder if its the bull my buddy missed last season. he has one shed from this past winter that scored 213", no pics, wont let anyone barely see it. I have a general idea where its at, we will see when the pics of this bull come out.
-
maybe it was a caribou? :o Why let the wolves eat them all!

Funny.
While I was over around Kettle/Colville during the opener for deer my dad and I were feeling goofy late one morning. We were driving out of the area and laughing about how every stump and rock began to look like an animal when I said "look at that uprooted log, looks just like a caribou!" We laughed about it and drove on. About an hour or so later some guy pulls up to us and asks if we had seen anything and my ol man blurts out, Yeah, saw a massive caribou up on that ridge!" The guy gets a wide eyed look and I am sure thinking we are a couple of lunatics. We were going to leave it at that and see if the story spread around my dad's small town of Rice, which we were not far from. I tried really hard to keep a straight face, but the look on this guys face was priceless and I could not contain the chuckle. He caught on and we had a good laugh about it. He said he was going to use the same line on the next guy he talked to. :chuckle:
So, now there is a herd of wild caribou running around the Huckleberry range, all thanks to my dad. Just wait, the story will spread out there. Of course so will the story about my Dad and me being complete morons, but at least that part is true. :chuckle:

The escapees are from McCain-Palin campaign out getting votes...LOL. There are lots of wierd sightings in colville..I think a few years ago a grizz was shot south of Chewelah!...
-
Well EastWa is going to stop by again today to see it, I'm sure he will give us his opinion.
-
I saw the same picture two weekends ago at northport, that thing is incredible. The palmated tops look like one of those huge Canadian Rosies from the Island.
-
Yelp.... There are grizz in huckelberry ! I have seen 3 of them.
Not sure where exactly one was shot, but a guy killed one a few years ago that was raiding his chickens as it charged him one night or early morning.
-
There was a caribou north of republic last winter hangin out.
-
Don't laugh at me too hard...but I have seen a caribou in WA. Of course, we would have never found them had they not had a radio collar on. ;)

Not hard to believe. My grandpa was a gamey back in the 1950's. I think some sort of regional manager and he said that migrating caribou would go through NE washington.

I have heard that too, I hear of people seeing them every once in a while. Would love to see them!
-
I highly doubt anyone ever sees them. They are so far from roads it hurts...literally. Also, the herd doesn't come in WA very often. Maybe someone from the WSU research team can fill us in on what is going on, as I haven't had any updates for 10 years now on that herd...
If we head back over this weekend I'll try and get a picture of the bull elk picture we are talking about on this thread.

Anyone doing anymore elk hunting this week, need to fill my tag...willing to pay gas, id needed(if i can get out of school, and get someone to cover or switch shifts with me can go for a few days).
