I have a Traditions NW magnum that I bought last year at Cabelas. This year I seem to be having intermittent ignition issues. I have cleaned the firing pin channel and installed the nipple only hand tight. I have a Cow Elk tag and with the season opening up in about two weeks I don't have confidence in this firearm. I see where some have removed the hammer return spring. I have looked at it and I am not sure how to remove it or how difficult it would be to reinstall it. Also wondering if you would need to put in a spacer to keep the trigger and hammer lined up. Really leery about doing this but would try if it was simple and easy to re-install. Would like to hear from others who have removed the return spring. Thanks

Get on the phone with Traditions, if you havent already. They will make this right and get it back to you. My Dad had this gun and had the same problem. They put in a whole new trigger mechanism and fixed it. Tell them you are going on the hunt and have to have it turned around. They know they have serious problems with this gun and they will jump through the hoops to correct it.

I previously had the same problem. It's quite easy to remove the firing pin and spring. There is a screw on the right of the breech. Remove the screw and the pin will "eject" to the rear - so be ready. You can then remove the spring.
I do this after each shooting session, cleaning everything thoroughly including the channel with pipe cleaners. Hand insert the pin through the spring and re-install. You will have to have to finger press the pin back in and replace the screw while the pin and spring are under slight compression. Just be observant how it comes out and put back together accordingly.
This works for me and after starting this post shooting cleaning procedure has put me at 100+ shots with no misfires.
