For joe blow this seems like the same odds as hitting the lottery jackpot but one cant help but dream.
I figured I'd take as much of september off as I could and head to the coweeman (I know its not one of the premier trophy units but I spend a lot of time there and have seen a few bulls I would not feel guilty using this tag on) Or the west side of the Siouxon, I have seen 1 and seen trail cam pics of a few others from that area of some bulls with but scratchers for antlers. Where would you go? Would you automaticlly plan on focusing on the rutting part of the months open for the tag?

Coweeman :yike:
-
Nooksack! But then again I live in the Nooksack unit. :chuckle:

Not sure what the raffle tag gives you in terms of rules? Is it similar to a governors tag.... triple A? Anywhere. Anytime. Anyweapon. Or are their more restrictions maybe like the incentive tag? Personally I have not seen anything in any of the "st helens" units that I would want to use a tag like that on. But if you know the area and feel that it offers the best chance for a bull the caliber you are looking for go for it! :tup:Keep us updated and good luck!!

Goat rocks or Mt.Adams
-
Biggest and most bulls on west side live in kapowsin tree farm. If a guy could buy a hancock pass and hunt them that would be the ticket. Otherwise goat rocks or green river watershed.
-
Can't hunt in the green river shed w a raffle tag. I completely agree about kapowsin if you had the pass.

Quinault or Nooksack.

i ran into some hunters on the trail a couple weeks ago and they also said if they had the raffle tag they would go to the nooksack. I know zilch about that unit, are there 350+ bulls on public land? Walk in only? What's it like there?
-
I will let you know when I get it next year
-
Would you put 19 quality elk points on that nooksack tag?
-
Hancock Kapowsin for sure if you could get access. Nooksack would be a good bet. I know Goat Rocks and the country north of Adams well, 10-15 years ago it would have definitely been my number one but the herds and quality are way down. I sure would like that tag though.
-
Nook, mainly since I can watch some of the herd from my deck.

You would need more than the access permit to hunt bulls on Hancock's Kapowsin farm. The bull hunting restriction is an internal restriction imposed by Hancock - you would also need their blessing to shoot one. There is already a general season for the GMU the farm lies in.
Since we're all dreaming though, if I did have their blessing and an access permit, I would certainly be in there!

Not really. The "blessing" is to access their land when they close it during general elk season. Just hunt when it it isn't a general elk season.
