Title: Putting the Boat Up for,,,,
Post by: Hunterman on September 25, 2013, 11:13:28 PM
,,,,,The season  :'(  I was going to hit Westport this week end, BUT after the weather report I got today, plus some charters calling it quits for the year, I'm staying home  :'(  winds to 40 with 18' seas.

I had a good season for the time I was able to fish with good friends. Next season will be a different story.  We will put many salmon and bottom fish in the boats

Now lets get ready to hunt

Well I did make the run on Thursday to Lewiston. Got there around 7:30 am hit the launch just across the bridge from the mouth of the Clearwater. Had a saw horse telling me that it wasn't open, but the 300 of my closest friends also didn't get the memo!! A lot of folks were coming off saying it was slow. But I drove down so I'm floatin.

Gave my hunting buddy the choice of running the downriggers or driving. He took downriggers so I handed him a set of rubber gloves and he asked what are these for?

Simple so your chips don't taste funny.       :chuckle:

We stayed out of the masses and headed towards the jet boat launch. He wasn't in the water over 10 minutes and he stuck a Chinook. He's yellin , He's Ready, He's ready Get the net!!!

I'm not an expert but when the fish is airborne from one side of a hewescraft to the other behind the boat I just don't have the same feeling. Especially when it came off a ball 27 feet down and 30 feet behind the boat.

So as we all know when you horse a fresh fish it's going to happen! Kersnappy it busted off.

We fished the rest of the day I did have one good hit that didn't stick and then late afternoon did pick up a jack.

River was the color of a bad shade of coffee but I was marking tons of fish just none had their mouths open.

That's all I got!!

As usual, I put my boat away for the year last weekend, but fishing report say that coho fishing is still at least good in the Mukilteo, Shipwreck, Humpy Hollow area
