I just wanted to verify that USFS land is huntable near the park right? Planning on hunting sol duc for muzzie last minute. all my hunting buddies bailed on our planned trip down in fall river, but I was invited to join another camp today. I won't be able to get up and scout this new area before season, but wanted to at least do as much internet scouting before I get up there as possible. I don't want to be the third guy that doesn't know anything at all, just want to contribute in some way, like have some areas in mind to check out if we aren't seeing anything in their spots. I dont think they have any honey holes they are stuck on up there yet, as I think this is only their second year up there.
Aslo, should I expect to bring some calls? Should still be some rut action right? I heard it was good to call a bit down in fall river durring muzzie, not sure if its the same for sol duc, dicky, and pysht.
Any tips forbthe area would be great. We are planning on biking in and staying away from roads. Is it very crowded up there?

You and a million others... :chuckle:
Yes it is open, and many of the hunters that go into sol duc like to get near the park boundaries. Often rangers will be there too, more of the helpful type making sure you don't cross into the park not the ones hoping to bust you. It was raining pretty good this morning and the elk were stomping around rutting about midnight last night. If you go to dickey, a bicycle is a good idea. Sol Duc isn't all USFS either, there's some DNR land that was clearcut with new roads put in last year.
And you'll probably see quite a few people, only a few areas open for muzzy...so they all cram into a few units. Lots of road hunting so have patience when driving.
