Title: new to elk hunting
Post by: oldschooltrucks on September 29, 2013, 06:56:17 PM
Just moved here last year and I've tried the bear hunting with no success and wanted to try elk hunting.  Anyone have any helpful advice or be willing to show me around?

I'd be using a 30-06.  I have to do a lot of work to make my muzzle loader legal for this state I guess

I'd say try to pick a unit that you'll be able to scout a time or two before the season.  Just because the regs say 'any elk' for some GMUs doesn't mean there are actually elk in some of those units.  Are you wanting to hunt the east side of the state or the west side of the state?

As much as I'd like to hunt the east side, im a single dad to a 3 year old so I need to stay within a couple hours of Puyallup.

I'll look into it thanks.  Does anyone know about the Raymond area for elk?
