I wrote Port Blakely and got this response... So
Dear Brandon,
The Winston Creek lease did not “fall through”. By mutual agreement between Port Blakely and the Lessee we are ending the agreement.
Our Winston Creek block is now open to public access subject to the access policy on our website.
I have not heard that gates will be open for any season. I encourage you to watch our website for updates. As the 100 line gate could be open for Modern Season.
Thank you,
PORT BLAKELY TREE FARMS, L.P.

That area has been walk in only for years. It's a good unit if you come off the backside you can get into it fairly quickly. It's a 2 mile flat hike in on the 100 and then you start climbing but there's elk to be found; just be ready to be packing. Good luck!

Also heard the leased land will be open to walk in hunting this year. The reason I heard was Port Blakley received so much bad feedback from hunters they begged the leasers to get out of the lease !! The guys that leased the property will still have vehicle access but everyone else can still walk in. Sounds like hunters being vocal with complaints worked to overturn this plan, now if hunters can keep up the pressure on weyco maybe they will reverse their plans to turn all their tree farms into pay to play and lease tracts. Good job guys !! keep up the pressure and contact your elected officials, weyco and the wdfw and voice your complaints.

They told me today when I called them to check on it again that the gates could be open for drive in access for Modern Firearm Elk Season.
