Title: GMU 172 "Mountain View" hunt help!!!!!
Post by: BigBluePup on October 02, 2013, 01:32:05 PM
Hey everyone,

I'm new to the board and hoping this is a place I can recive a little help.

I pulled a special permit for the "Mountain View" GMU 172,(very south east corner of Washington) 3 point min muzzleloader tag.

I am in Southern California (YUCK) for work so I haven't been able to make any scouting trips and I had a hunter who was experienced in that area (my brother) going with me...

Unfortunately, he had emergency back surgery a couple days ago and now can't come with me...

My question is this, does anyone have any advice or know people to contact in that area?

I will now be hunting alone, but I'm a strong guy I don't mind some hikes and I'm willing to pack meat out a long ways.

I'm just wanting this to be a successful hunt and if I get a big boy then so be it.

I hunt in Wyoming every year so that's usually where I get my big rack fix.

ANY help would be awesome! and I'd be willing to share meat for any responsible experienced hunters that might want to help on the hunt.

I will be getting into that area Thursday night or Friday morning early.

Please feel free to chime in with anything you think might contribute.

Thanks guys!!!

Shaun.

I think it's quite a bit of national forest Isnt it? I spent last weekend in the Lick Creek which is North of Mtn View, stop in Pomeroy and grab a map at the ranger station. Good luck, wish I had more help for ya.

Ya it looks like a lot of National forest, I have heard that it'll be shut down for the government taking a break on us. But I don't see how that's true.
I think I'll get out into the rez and see what I can find and maybe knock on some doors and see if anyone has a kind heart lol...

And thanks for the welcome!

Unfortunately, it's some steep, steep terrain, beautiful country indeed. Mostly national forest, and there are some pretty nice bucks, just not a lot of em.

Thanks fast!
I'm actually flying in to PDX in the morning, picking up my smoke tube and headed over.
I should be heading through your neck of the woods sometime around late lunch.
I think I will take 14 out along the river,  it's a beautiful drive.

Agreed, I take 14 whenever I head East. I could meet you in Vanc and give you that map and a Gmu map if you need one of them too.
