I have a 2000 4runner with stock sized tires.
I'm trying to find the best price and what size tire to go with?
-
Isn't Toyo a Les Scwabb line?
-
I think Toyo's are a schwabby only tire on this side of the country?
-
yes it is. Best tires I've owned. Pushed snow over the hood of my F-150 with A/T's. Handle great and low road noise.

Schwab will tell you exactly how big of a tire they can put on. Just stop in.
-
Schwab or ebay.
-
Gave schwab a call and it's $1385 for all four

They ain't cheap, that's for sure.
-
Discount beat lw a few months ago when I bought them. Find a good deal online and discount will come close.
-
Discount Tire can order any tire on the market. Don't let Les Schwab BS you into thinking they have the market on Toyos.
-
discount is cheaper for Toyo's, but I think you can find a better tire as well.
-
:yeah: I've really enjoyed the cooper stt's.
-
I have a 1998 4Runner and just put 2 new Toyo's on from Les Swabby. $524 for 2 out the door. 265/75/16 is the size.
Shop around, they are not cheap, but they are great. 60,000 miles, quiet and great in the snow.
-

:yeah: this is all I run there a great tire
-
I would search ebay myself once you figure out what you want.
-
Toyos are not a LW only tire. I can get them and usually a lot cheaper than LW.
-
Buy some Nitto's. The "Mud Grappler" would be probably about the equivalent if I'm not mistaken. Great tire, made by Toyo and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Another vote for the coopers. I have always run Schwab tires but running coopers now.
-
Idk what all you guys are talking about, these toyo mt's I have are NOT quiet in the 33" flavor. Anyways, treaddepot.com will be your friend.
-
I've used two sets of Cooper SST's. They wear great, last a long time and maintain traction for almost the entire life. I've never had a set of Schwab tires that had good traction after the first 40% is gone and they are noisy.
The last set I decided to try the BFG KM2 Mud Terrains on my F-350. I've had them two years. Probably 60% tread left. Love them. They are not as loud as the Coopers and get great traction on everything from snow, grass, mud and wet pavement.
I've extremely happy with them and will probably replace them with another set of the same. They were also the least expensive tire in an E rating I could buy. Discount tire with a no-questions asked replacement warranty for $1,100.
-
Go with Cooper's or the BFG's. :twocents:

I got the Cooper STT's and love them. I also like having tires that are different. Every truck out their with a lift is rocking the toyo's... and that's fine by me.
-
I work for toyota, right now we are having a tire sale, buy three get the fourth for $1. call your local dealer and have them get them, we can get those tires, and I bet it will beat the price of les schwab or discount, plus we wont try and sell you shocks and brake calipers. :) I work in burlington at Foothills

Look around I run the toyo mts on my truck 33 and 31 on my suburban great for mud but they suck when they get packed its like running bald tires at that point. When the tread is gone ill be buying something else.

:yeah: I mostly see the flashy road kings sporting the toyo mt's, the ones that never see dirt let alone mud. :chuckle: and hang out in cabelas parking lot in full camo. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Just put a set on my 2500 Dodge from Discount. Toyo's are manufactured in Nitto's factory. Had a set of Toyo M/T before and they were a little louder. You will save cashola if you shop at Discount vs. Les

Discount Tire : 285x70x17 Hankook Dyna Pro ATM Load range E 10 ply $810 delivered to my door
Les Schwab : $293 X 4 = $1172 + tax

I have the nitto mud grappler in the equivalent to something around 33x11.5 I don't know the conversion and I bought them off eBay and had discount mount them.. I think after shipped and installed I was less than $1000 which discount told me I should of bought them from them but when I told them the price I paid they could not even touch it. They said I could of bought 5 for about what they could of sold 4 of them to me for.. So far have 12,000 miles on them and love them and they are only down 1/32..

I do not know about discount, but...
every 5,000 miles you balance and rotate your tires = $75
$75 for every 5000 miles, times about 30,000 miles everyone says they get 40k+ so this is an underestimate! = $450
$450 x 6 balance and rotations = $450
$450 + $810 = $1260 + install, and no Les Schwab warranty (free balance/rotation/fixaflat/roadside assistance, etc)...Math isn't my strong suit, show me where I am wrong!

How long have you had the sst. I'm looking at the coopers sst or the at3.
-
Daily driver another week be a year at least 40% tread. It handled hog ranch rd in wenas with mo sweat. 10ply and no problems with rocks. Clemans east to west, no problem.

I have $1200 worth of chrome wheels from Les Schwab, free rotate, free balancing if needed. Warranty with Discount, no problem, I've dealt with them before on leaking UTV tires. They were going to send me more expensive tires a t no charge, but I got the problem solved.

Another vote for BFG KM2 mud terrains from Discount. . CAMPMEAT, doesnt nearest store mount and balace free?
-
Been a Schwab guy all my life. Also love the Toyo MT'S. by far best tire I have ever run on a truck! When these Coopers are done on my yota, the Toyos will go on!! They are amazing in the snow!!!
-

The nearest Discount is in Spokane. I use Schwab in Republic. I know the mgr pretty good, so he cuts me some $$ slack.
-
Toyo's are on every lifted truck because Les Schwab finances anyone...lol
Cooper SST or BFG KM2 Mud Terrain. My BFG's are wearing great so far and have great traction still after two years. That won't happen on a Schwab tire.
-
:) I have over 50,000 on my Toyo M-55's now. GREAT tire, have more tread now than many new tires. Killer in mud and snow, do howl a little. I will buy them again if I ever wear them out.
Carl
Les Schwab store is where I get mine
-
lol I just had these put on a week or so ago. 265/65/18 112s open country AT/ ll. My total cost was $1026 @ a Portland les schwab. The tread life on these are 65000 :yike:. There running them at 35 psi. Nice so far though I haven't put them to work yet. The reviews are promising for these tires. Modern rifle deer should be fun with all this rain. Gl on your choices ;)

MT's are horrible in the snow. I live where we get up to a couple feet a year and I had the worst time with traction. I got stuck with them on in my yard.

1-nobody on God's green earth needs to balance tires every 5k miles. Rotate, yes. Balance, no way.
Anybody who buys tires and doesn't get free lifetime rotation and balance, you're missing out. Everybody gives that now, even the Ford dealers. Les, Discount, Costco, Ford dealers, you name it. Free rotate, free flat repair, pre-trip safety inspections, etc. Ford even offers a low price guarantee for anyone. They'll guarantee to beat everyone apples to apples.

I had little 235's Cooper SST's on my F-350 because I got a great craigslist deal on them. Looked kind of funny. On highway snow, untouchable. Pizzacutters. I had jack-nobs in lifted trucks with the wide azz 20" street pounder rims trying to keep up and were sliding all over the road in 4x4. I hadn't even stopped to turn my hubs yet and didn't until Easton. Of course, I run winter time with about 600lbs over the rear axle and the pretty boy trucks never put weight down
-
:yeah: :chuckle: I love that, when i pull up to those guys in their fancy pants sky jacked trucks or suv's and as shiny as possible and up pulls me in my no-lift, stock rims but awesome cooper's all muddy and dirty because I just came back from the mts and god hasn't washed my car yet (rain). I love them in snow as well, not so much on ice but thats expected, it's ice. :dunno:

Anyone up for follow the leader?? Ha ha!!

Yeah i second that, i used to work at Les and all the guys would swap their Toyo MT's for snow tires because they are terrible in the snow. Big lugs= crappy traction on snow and ice. Of course most guys center sipe to get better traction, but that defeats the purpose of a mud tire and is a common practice of pavement pounders.
-
Go with Cooper's or the BFG's. :twocents:
:yeah:
Have run lots of tires over the years probably will not go back to Schwab went to get another set of Toyo M55 and was shocked how far the price went up. Went to Discount and had BFG's AT put on and could have nearly bought new wheels for the same price Scwab wanted for the Toyos. BFG's were $100 per tire cheaper than M55 :twocents:

I didnt know all of those other tire stores did all that, and I claimed that, thanks for the info! The only tire store in my town is Les Schwab, so its kind of a no brainer.
I have my tires balanced every time I have them rotated, it might be overkill, but its free, and it cant hurt. Takes an extra couple minutes for them to do, and its already on the rack with all the tires off anyways.
-
We've got 4 tire shops and a few dealerships selling tires all on the same street here. No worries.
-
Schwabbies prices are out of control..............................
-
All I can say is last year, drove around, thru deeper snow, then pulled out, up hill, two fords and one Toyota Tundra, the only reaosn I can think of is the M-55's. All those rigs had traction tires and all should be as good as my Chev. It was about 18 -24 inches of snow in high cascades. I thought and think it was the tires. I was amazed where my stock chev would go!!
Carl
-
Carl, I have had M-55's on a previous vehicle, and I will agree with you 100%. They are awesome, and the traction is unmatched for all driving styles/conditions/surfaces.
I couldn't afford them this time, so I didn't get them on this truck, but my next set will be M-55's without question!
