grundy-I agree with you but a little extra precaution with scent control for any swirling winds might confuse the animal long enough to give me a few extra seconds in the timber.

I always try to use the wind to my advantage but i also wear the clothes wash with the soap and spray down.

i use Scent Lok and scent killer spray... all the time, plus i go by the wind. Always helps out. Any little bit helps... but like everyone else said... the Wind plays a huge part... i even chew scent eliminating gum :tup:

I don't bother with it riffle hunting, I do shower w/hunter soap. Now archery hunting I'm a believer. They will always smell you down wind but the sent is so faint they think you are farther away then you are, they don't seem to spook as bacd when they do smell you, most will just walk off. I had a doe w/a fawn walk by by tree, then walk down wind. She stopped looked back and walked right to my tree all the while looking pass my tree back into the woods. The trail she wanted to take was right down wind. She did this 3 times, back to the base of my tree. Then went down the trail and didn't blow. I use hunter body wash, sent killer spray, X-SENT under close and X-SENT Camo. Makes it hot when it's hot out, but I bag all my clothes after I air dry them, I go into my stand w/just shorts on and sandals, lay them out on the ground close to my tree, spray them down and walk a ways away w/my boots. I put all my stuff far way from my stand put my X-SENT socks on Spray my boots and walk back to my stand in my underwear and dress at my stand and get in. I don't get to sweaty this way.

I can't believe people still by any of the "odor eliminating" products, especially after Scent Lock lost their lawsuit, and were found guilty of false advertising.
“Expert witnesses proved that the product simply cannot work as it is advertised, and the judge agreed. Obviously, we’re very pleased with this outcome.”
Below is a picture of Scent Loc charcoal impregnated fabric. You can clearly see there is not enough charcoal in there to change a fart, let alone someone hiking or hunting for days.

I wash my clothes in non scent detergent. (not any advertised hunting nonscent products). I no they can still smell me if wind is wrong, but at least I dont smell like Dawney. After an hour of sweating I don't think any thing works.

My attitude about is that it doesn't work but it cant hurt. :twocents: I use the body soap and made my own laundry soap but as far as "ELIMINATING" the scent.......... Bogus! Get the wind. Get the animal!

My fav is the Ozinator you haul around with you and put it next to your treestand........

I break and twist up some fir branches and rub them on me every so often. Makes me smell like a tree :dunno:

Tree like cedar works great... Rub cedar branches on your arms , legs and all over

:yeah: use the wind and you can seek up on anything scent wise. One molecule of human scent will give you away, no product out there can cover you completely, not possible!

I get a kick out of these guys who continually spew "I always hunt the wind and never have a problem". You guys are really limiting your hunting or are just kidding yourselves. I have never fallen for the Scentlock crap. I do, however take a ton of precautions to keep my scent sown or eliminate it as much as possible. Coming from someone who has had deer and elk literally walk over the tops of my legs while sitting on the ground, some scent control products do actually work. You have to go all out and not just be casual about it for it to be effective. As far as Ozone. I work with ozone in the bottling industry and it is extremely effective in killing bacteria of any kind. Don't believe it, just drink a freshly bottled, bottle of water and see how far you get until you have explosive diarrhea. It kills every bit of bacteria within your digestive track immediately upon contact. The problem with ozone is that it has it's own odor similar to chlorine. But it does dissipate. Bottom line, if a guy like me who has that "old man" smell can use certain products and have deer walk right up to me from down wind, there has to be something to it. :twocents:

I understand what ya'll say about Scent Lok. i have had positve results. they have a new collection of carbon alloy.
I also use underarmour. it's also scent free and kills odor

Take ScentBlocker spray and a smelly shoe, smell the shoe, then spray the shoe. No smell. When I wore a wrist watch the band would get smelly from sweat, one day I sprayed it down and the smell went away. As far as the spray, soap, pit stick and wipes they do work.

I picked the 3rd choice because I wouldn't say I don't believe in it but I've never used any before. I use the wind. I also hunt with rifle and don't need to get that close. I just can't see how you can get rid of all you scent. I watch the shows where they put it on and just can't see that their feet stay scent free all the way to the stand or your sweat doesn't come out and smell sooner or later. Just my :twocents: But I've never tried it. There are many places I hunt close to home that the deer are used to human activity also and have to encounter it all the time. Rain is the best scent and noise control, I had deer at 5 feet that never reacted numerous times, almost been run over by deer, had my kids almost run over by deer, all without scent control. It's a fun challenge!

If you hunt there is no way you aren't a stinky mess. No fancy spray will change that. Keep the wind in your face and save some money.

I bet a deer can still smell you. MUCH BETTER NOSE THEN YOU.

I did buy into the whole scent lok thing and have the entire outfit. I store all of my clothes in a scent tote and change in the field and spray down every time before i walk to my stand. I have had deer all around me all year. I play the wind as best i can but that doesn't stop all the deer from coming in downwind of me. I have not been busted once yet. Do i believe that scent lok works 100% no not at all. but i do believe that it helps. I think that every step you take to help eliminate your scent helps. Just my :twocents: but after having so many downwind encounters and having Zero deer alert to me being there i am going to keep using this method.

It might help to be clean and have your clothes in cover scent. I think if your wind is in their nose, you're busted no matter what you're wearing.

I use to be the type of person that hunter the wind, until a few years ago I had to walk with the wind to get to the spot I wanted to hunt elk from. BUSTED right off the bat right? Nope. My daughter and I wore one of those elk briskets (elk urine I think), and walked right up to a herd of 7 cows and calf's. 40 to 50 yards and not detected. I use the same thing deer hunting now.

Last year was the first year i wore camo and scent killer. and by camo i mean a full on leafy camo suit... IDK if it was the scent eliminator or the jumpsuit but shoot,, i felt invisible to deer last season.. I do hunt with wind but i had does and forkers walking 10 - 15 yardsfrom my honey hole...
Lucky, camo, or scent block i cant complain but the scent elimanotor cant hurt and i almost didnt buy it but im glad i did, im a some what believer.. i used Dead downwind 3d
