:) I shot a compound bow for about 32 years. Went all in traditional for the past 2 years. Harvested a nice bear last year and love shooting my Sapphire Hawk, but I am going back to the compound bow. I will still shoot and hunt with my longbow, but I miss shooting a compound. So with that said it has been probably 10+ years since I bought the accessories. What's a good sight (I don't shoot over 40 yards, ever, so I don't need multiple pins). What is a good release now, last time I bought a release they were around $35.....I see that's not the case anymore. :) Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I have a Spott Hogg sights on my bow with 5 pins but i got big pins. Not the tiny ones. Cant remember the number exactly. And then i put the biggest peep sight i could get and i can shoot good now. I highly recommend looking on Amazon.com. Cheapest on everything archery i could find. Good luck to ya

I shot a deer last year for the first time with the recurve.. then had to pass on a broadside elk at 50 yards, a shot that with the compound would have been totally withing my capabilities. I'm still going to keep the compound. As to your sight and release question- you'll get a hundred different opinions- but i use and recommend the "TruGlo Brite Site Xtreme" its a simple sight, rugged, compact- and not more than 40$ or so. I have beat the heck out of the one on my high country- and when i got a new bow this year- I put the same sight on it. only downsides I have found are if you arent careful you can strip the heads (allen screw type) on the sight pins, and it only comes with 3 pins- but replacement (or extra) pins arent expensive. For a release I usea truball stinger- I bought it in about 2003 when i started shooting with a release-and I'm still using the same one. it shouldnt be more than 40$..

I have a Montana Black Gold sight. The best one word description I can give is Bombproof. I had a question one day and a simple phond call resolved the question. Will buy from them again

For sights you may want to look at the G5 XR2. I shoot this sight and love it. Most of my shots are under 40 yards so my fixed pin is set at 30 and I keep my adjustable at 50. This way I only need two pins to 50 yards....I just split the distanced if the animal is at 40. Works really well especially if you shoot a flat shooting / fast bow.

Thanks guys!! I appreciate it!

A good pro shop will let you try out a few releases so you can make a good decision on that. Same goes for a new bow. Sights - Spot Hogg. Rest - any good drop away. Large hole(1/4") peep. Custom string broken in after you've broken in your stock string. Make the stock string your spare. Like most things, you get what you pay for.

Why do I feel I need to form some intervention group or something for you.

I recently picked up a Scott Itty bitty goose on ebay BNIB for $40 shipped. Same release would be over $80 at cabelas, might be a good place to start your search.
