Most of my early archery deer and elk hunting was done in GMU 113, with a priority on elk. Completely forgetting that this unit isn't open for late season, I failed to scout other areas...GRRR! While elk hunting, I was also scouting the same area for a late season deer hunt. For the past couple of weeks, I've been planning my late archery deer/elk trip, with the same area in mind. The other day, I realized my error. Now I've gotta rethink my late season plans. Time to do my homework, figuring out a different area...

About late elk season...
Is bugling/cow calling an option that late in the year? During early elk, calling was completely unsuccessful for me, until the final day of the season. How do strategies change, early season vs. late season?

Spot and stalk or still hunting. Both of which are almost impossible to do up there with it being sooo thick. I hunt late season archery whitetail in 101 and other than logging roads it's almost impenetrable.

I just noticed my mistake also. I thought today was my last day muzzle loading elk. Looked to double check this morning and see yesterday was.
