Well it was a crazy morning this morning ....Got the wife out of bed early and headed for the brush :chuckle: She was all excited last night until I woke her up early this morning :chuckle: Once we got to our spot we had to hike about 1 1/2 miles up the hill because they had the whole frickin county in lock down :bash: :bash: But no one around but us ...SWEEEEEET ! Once we reached our destination we waited for daylight and as soon as we entered the clear cut we seen 2 doe ....The sign was off the chart as we continued up the hill ...before we went a mile or so we seen 7 doe ...then I came to the landing and looked off where we seen bucks before and :yike:

She hung around for about 2 hours in the same area ...once we hunted around awhile we ended up seeing 11 doe total ...no bucks ...but BH knows that everyday that passes it just gets better and better ...another 10 days or so and it will be deer hunting time ...the bucks are not moving around much with doe quit yet ....

Yeah it was cool ... my wife has not hunted in years and her 1st day out in many years she gets to see a deer like this ... she really had a good time ...she complained about the hike but once she started seeing deer that all went away :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: plus this deer had a greyish silver tail ... was not for the dang fog I would have had some super clear photos ...I am sure I will see her again ...hopefully no one kills her !

After hunting all weekend and never seeing but one hunter which I knew I have to say that people are seriously fed up with all the locked up land and not be able to go anywhere ...This place is usaually a circus come deer season but this year it dead :dunno: Guess its a good thing for those who are still here :dunno: :chuckle: I should say barely here :dunno:

I spotted the white deer last night and she had two fawns with her. Both fawns though are normal color. I didn't get good photos of it but did get some good video, it was almost dark

little up date ... no buck for the wife yet but we have seen sheet loads of deer but can not seem to put horns on anything ...but as of yesterday we know of 2 bucks shot and a bear ...plus the buck took a dirt nap thanks to some Doe in heat ....his neck is swelled up like a basketball ....makes me sick I have to work ...They are just starting to move around a lot more ...well hopefully after work I can get her on one !! if I have time .... WORK SUCKS WHEN I KNOW THE BIG ONES ARE STARTING TO SHOW UP :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

:bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :'( :'( So I finally get a day to hunt with the boy ....the wife had to work and I decided I was going to take Ted into the honey hole ...We get up early and get to the gate about a half hour before light ...No one there ... :tup: then someone pulled up behind us and ask which way we were headed ....He then turned around and left ...Now that's the kinda hunter I like :dunno: :chuckle: Now it goes down hill from here :bdid: :o As soon as I enter the unit I look below us and :yike: :yike: Huge freakin buck !!!! I tell Ted there he is and he gets on a stump and before I could even get the binos to my eyes BOOOOOOOOOOM ...the deer just stands there :yike: Did not more an inch ....I start freaking out ...You shot over him ...the deer then starts for the timber ...on a fast trot ....BOOM again ....You are shooting high Teddy .....BOOM AGAIN :bash: :bash: :bash: HE IS GONE ....this is the 1st deer he has ever missed... but I guess that's the way it goes ....I told him this morning to take the 300 because he killed his bear with it and just maybe it would bring him some good luck :bash: I had a feeling today was the day ....No fog ....and these units have not been looked at in weeks ....the fog has been soooo thick you could not hunt this area ... This buck was the one to be showing off but it was not meant to be .....I will be taking the wife out this evening and maybe since they are rutting he just might show his face again ......This was the spot I was saving for my wife and she is not happy :dunno: But you have to look at it this way ...if you do not go and kill it someone else will :dunno: DANG IT MAN :'( :'( :'( :'( :bdid: I JUST HOPE ONE STEPS OUT FOR HER TONIGHT OR TOMORROW !!!!

Man, that sucks. Good luck tomorrow, I am taking the wife out tomorrow, had to work today but we will get out there in the morning and see what we can find!

I would be checking zero on the rifle, it suprises me it doesn't take too much to throw it out. Last yr i missed a really good bear at 120 yards off a stump, went to the range and wasn't even on paper.... I did knock it pretty good on the stalk though....

Yeah I know I had plenty of time to skin her buck but when the whole neighborhood shows up you do not get nothing done :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: So I will start from the beginning ...This has been one of the foggiest deer seasons I ever seen ...Not that I hunted a lot because of work but we have put in some time when I could take her out ...She has walked many of miles and seen plenty of deer but nothing with horns ...I had a spot where I knew there would be some big bucks showing up sooner or later ..She kept asking me the same question everytime we went out ...( why do we keep wasting our time here when we have not seen one buck ) :dunno: I explained how you have to be where the does are because when they start rutting there will be bucks ...I am relentless when it comes to deer hunting ...PERSISTANCE & PATIENTS is the key to killing deer every year ...especially blacktails ...they are the tuffest deer to kill ...big ones anyway ...So the wife had to work yesterday So I decided I would take the boy to the spot her and I have been hunting since opening morning ...I knew that the fog had saved many low land bucks and as soon as it cleared there would be deer to see... My hunch was dead on !!! Me and Ted head out yesterday and get to the spot where me and the wife has been hunting ...it gets light enough for me to see and as soon as I looked over the hill :yike: :o Monster buck !!! I tell Ted there he is and before I could get my Binos on it POOOOOOOOOOOW ...The buck never moves .....Pooooow again ...the buck makes it to the timber and stops again ...poooooooooow again ...he is gone :bash: :bash: :bash: Not much more to say but I am disgusted ..not as much as Ted though !!! He has never missed a deer and he has killed a few ...but I think the horns had him a little excited ...and I probably did not help ...I get just excited as anyone else :chuckle: So this morning rolls around ...I tell Ted to head to another spot and mom and I will go to my other honey hole ...Where we saw the white deer !! I had a feeling with the rain that today was going to be a great day :dunno: We hunted this spot the evening before and saw a couple doe ...One doe was laying on an old cedar log ...it was about 5:30 or so yesterday evening ....long and be hold that same doe was laying in the same spot this morning ....I LOOK AT HER IN MY BINOS and tell the wife that same doe is laying in the same spot again ...she says really !! it is peesing cats and dogs and fog was back ...we sat there for about 10 minutes and when the fig lifted I looked at the doe laying there and :yike: :o Big buck was standing right behind her !! I freak out :dunno: Big Buck Big buck !! she starts shaking and her heart was beating so dang hard I could not get her calmed down ...So I took a deep breathe myself and told her to breath ....He does not know we are here ...just take your time and wait until you calm down ...once she got calmed down she then could not see him :yike: Then the does started getting up and then she seen him ...her heart starts beating again :dunno: :chuckle: She tells me she has him in the scope ...I told her to just take a deep breath and squeeze the trigger ....POOOOOOOOOOOOW He drops in his tracks :whoo: :whoo: he then gets up and starts down the hill ...I told her to shoot again ....POOOOOOOOOOOW .....Down for good that time .....It was so foggy I thought it was a huge 2pt or 3 pt ...once I got down to him it was a 4x4 with eye guards ... That may go down as one of our best hunts ever ...she has not killed a deer in over 15 yrs and I bought her a New Gun and she used it quit well :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: She is on cloud 9 ... she never thought she would get a shot at a buck and to dump one that size is beyond anything she ever expected .....We should have 2 wall hangers in the garage ...Hopefully Ted can redeem himself before Thursday .... I WILL LOAD SOME PHOTOS IN A MINUTE !!!! LIKE I tell everyone ...if you want big blacktails you need to wait until the last week when they are in Pre Rut ...they are moving now and these last couple days are the days you need to be hunting .....It all changes that fast when these big boys are looking for some women .... :tup:

I best share this one ....it feels so good to see her break in that new 7mm-08 ...against my religion to own a gun that has not kill anything :chuckle: :chuckle:
I think I best stay away from those little bullets :yike: 120 gr SST just blood shot the hell out of that deer ...luckily it was all in the ribs ...I show ya that too ...got one of the bullets back ...it held up good but it was nasty .....

Man we had some of the backstraps lastnight ...it was off the chart ...If you can get a well fed blacktail the meat is as good as it gets ....I ate corn fed whitetail half my life and this meat off this deer is right up there with it ...he has a thick layer of fat down his back and his hind quarters are like a small beef cow ..I was going to grind the whole deer but I think I best get some steaks off of him .....we still have friends out hunting and it sure slowed down yesterday ..not many moving like they were over the weekend ....BH45 Has his late archery tag but I am peeesssed they cut my days back :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: I can not hunt until Nov. 27 ...I would rather be hunting about the 10th :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: We know that's not happening ...I have killed a few Blacktail bucks in the 1 st week of Dec ..but I need to go up higher where they rut later ...which you bet your butt I will !! Come on I am pulling for you guys who are still hunting ...Good luck ...be nice to see a few more Blacktail hitting the dirt :tup: :tup:

it has been weird last few mornings not even does where they normally are, probably a bit night active with the clear skies. I did see one buck on private land on the way home the other morning though he was rutting hard!

A guy needs to be out there today ..I have been sick since Saturday ....my Nephew has been dying for me to take him out put I woke up this morning sicker than yesterday ...whole dang body hurts ..Today is going to be another perfect day ...cloudy cool and over cast ...Which I could take him :bash: :bash: not counting the fact I should be working :yike:

She has not hunted in over 15 or 20 yrs ...that's the crazy thing ...she said she wanted to go this year So I went and bought her a new gun and new clothes and then she gets to kill a 4X4 :o :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: She is on cloud 9 ...So am I too !! it really was awesome to watch her spank that buck ...Now I just need to find a spot on my wall for him :yeah:

I am wearing out the carpet thinking about late bow season ...there are some pigs showing up on the hunting grounds but what sux about it is there are 25 late rifle tags out there :bash: :bash: I just pray they can not see or shoot :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: Anyway we all know how tuff it is to get reloading supplies So I figured I best go shopping around today and see what I can find and buy before I can not buy them anymore ,,,,Are you shocked ??? Lmao I am making sure I have enough to last me the rest of my life :hello: Now I just hope there is a Big Fat and heavy Racked Blacktail waiting to take a quick dirt nap :yeah: OL This thread is far from over :chuckle: :chuckle:

Well I got off to a late start today ...had to work a couple hours ...I got home around 1pm and was thinking if I should head out right then or wait until about 2 .... :bash: :bash: HUGE MISTAKE ! I head into my honey hole where I have killed bucks previous in the middle of the day ...Soon as I work my way threw the brush and onto the grade I could smell him ...Then I seen his track that was fresher than heck ....So I sat in there until dark but nothing came back ...so I am thinking tomorrow about 12 I need to be there until dark ....Fresh horning everywhere .... I need to go check my other area in the morning so I know what is going there too !!
