I used brake cleaner on both my daughters triggers that froze up and was wondering if there is any problem using it on bp or threads for bp.thanks
-
What is BP?
-
Breach plug.

I use carb or brake cleaner all the time on my auto shotguns and pump-guns. It is really good for cleaning crud out of trigger groups. And it's twenty-five % less than gun scrub, I get the $1.97 carb cleaner at Wal-Mart by the 6 pack.

Thanks for the reply

:twocents: cant say as anything wrong with it to clean with but be sure to re coat to threads before you reinstall the BP back in other wise your really going to have a heck of a time getting it to come back out!
made that mistake along time ago before getting on this side and still a newbe at it just got in a big hurry and plum forgot

I have used brake cleaner for years on my breech plugs and nipples. it works great.
-
I always use it to clear the breech threads after a thourough cleaning. Also take a can to camp for cleaning there.

Don't get it on anything with a finish on it that you're concerned about. It will not be friendly to the finish.

:yeah:
Not a fan of using brake cleaner as it is very good at removing any and all lubricants as well very hard on any plastic that it might come in contact with.
Very warm soapy water and an air compressor goes a long ways for me. Light coat of Gun-X and life is good.

Very true. It eats soft plastic, wood finish, takes the blue/black off aluminum, definitely need to be careful.
