:yeah: I'm glad someone else said it, because I was seriously confused... I thought "wow huge whitetail", then looked again close and thought "no, no... that's a muley", then got all sorts of confused. Since I'm a newb and all I didn't want to ask >_<

Cross breeding in some areas is not that uncommon.  A ranch I hunt on has a great deal of cross bred muleys and whiteys which is in and around Spangle WA.

100% muley. One inline doesn't make it whitetail cross. Nice buck

This deer was for sure 100% mule deer, as far as a score it nets 183 And is only 20 inches wide.

I only see muley there  :dunno:

That thing is a scoring machine.   Cool bucks and I love 5 points, so all the better.   100% muledeer

In this case which point would he the abnormal point and which would he the g4?

Excellent question! I'm wondering myself...
Title: Re: Scouting is key

The smaller/shorter point would be the abnormal one.

Width is over rated and nets are for fish, nice buck.

Wow!  I would never have guessed him over 180.  That's pretty dang cool.  I agree with phool on this one - gross score him all the way and leave the net in the boat.  He is unique and cool because of the abnormal point.  To subtract it is just wrong!

Nice buck, congrats. Yes, it does have a whitetail look on the one side, but that in no way means it is a cross breed. You see that a lot in area that is a 1000 miles from the nearest whitetail. It just means he has an extra point.

Great job. Scouting does pay off, and persistence. You had both sticking at it for 8 days and not shooting a different buck.

I agree 100%. Scouting is key. I scout almost year round for Blacktails.
