Found a free tackle box today and scored but the white spoon is odd and wondering if anyone knew what it was.
Dont mind my sweet counter tops...... its straight up 70s. lol

Looks like an early Fire Wobbler (Fiery Fox Lure Co.). Is it abalone mother of pearl? I think that red dot was their trademark. :dunno:
If so, I believe they sold those as a musky spoon, but my grandfather used them on silvers out of Neah Bay. My brothers and I got some from his old tacklebox when he passed away. Not sure if he ever caught or landed anything with them. That was before our time on the water.
I'd bet that every single item in his old wooden tackle box was purchased at Seamart in Olympia :chuckle: The man absolutely loved that place! As someone mentioned in an earlier thread - I can still smell the popcorn! :)

I have a bunch of those abalone/mother of pearl spoons exactly like that in a box somewhere. I will see if I can find a name on one of them. Love the old splitshot tin. That Roostertail is a killer on searun cutthroat!

Looks like a les Davis wobbler to me...
-
:yeah:
That is what I was thinking. I have a bunch of old Les Davis plugs from my Grandpa and some of those spoons were in with them. He always kept like stuff together for some reason.
-
Wasn't the Les Davis pearl spoon more Needlefish shaped with a smaller dot? Seems to me I had some of those too.
Just found this web page. Maybe too large for the Fire Wobbler. Looks pretty close to this Danielson wobbler though :dunno:

It is a pearl wobbler which works great trolling for adult migrating coho.
-
I remember my grandfather having one and he used it for trolling in the lakes in central CA. for trout. He use to catch some very large trout, the 8-10 pound range.
He also used it on the Russian river to catch Steelhead also. And this was back in the late 50's and early 60's

Interesting.

Just looked at the link I posted again. It's changed. No longer shows the Danielson package. Maybe those are HOT sellers :chuckle:
Good thing I snapped a picture first before copying the link.

That is a pearl wobbler.

Martin also sold Pearl Wobblers. I have a few still in the packages.
