We will be up over Thanksgiving week chasing rutting whitetails in the NE corner. Haven't decided if I want to buy an elk tag yet. I didn't buy one since I was going to Oregon to hunt elk but since I didn't fill that tag I might buy one but who knows.

Do you know of some private land that you have access to hunt?  I'm only asking because if not there's almost no public land to hunt on the island.

Congrats on the twins. My time is limited to hunting with my wife. I can't really complain, because she likes to do most of it on her own. Here is my wife in WY last week 24 weeks pregnant with our baby girl hence the shirt she is wearing. She packed out 3 of the 4 lopes she killed on this trip after she did the gutless method and deboned the quarters. She will be hunting late season archery for a nice blacktail and wants to do that on her own as well.

done with my late season plans.  tagged my buck in kitsap county yesterday finally.  after dealing with pnemonia for a week and a half.  had to get out of the house.  will post pictures later.  was in the middle of building a new blind and a 2x2 walked up 5 feet from me did not give me a good shot.  grunted at him.  stopped at 7 yards shot him in the lung.  hunting in the thick stuff is really difficult especially when the deer runs off.  took alot of time and effort to find him.  now he is hanging in the shed frozen.  cannot wait for next season.  whitetails in washington is the next for me.  grey ghost hunting the rut is so much fun.  the big ones seem to come out in the dark.  had to take what the woods offered me this year.  only spent 2 hours in the woods for late archery since i almost had to be put in the hospital.  now recovering from a long drag out of the woods last night.  good luck to all you fellow bowhunters.  joe us navy

Geared up for my first late season hunt in NE corner of the state of Fri.
Had a pretty good spot scouted.
Knew it would be a challenge to draw a bow with all the clothes required to stay comfortable with wind chill well below o degrees f.
Gloved fingers lasted about 20 min even with wrapping them around chem warmers as much as I could.
Tried to find a sheltered spot out of the wind, no dice.
Said to myself, self, this is nuts.  Got in truck & went home.  On the road for 20 min before I started to feel heat in the truck.
Justified leaving by thinking when it's this bitter cold, even critters deserve a break.
I may be a whimp, but I'm a warm and dry wimp.  I'm ok with that.
