I do not know if anyone is putting up with the fog like we are up North ...it has been around 5 days straight now ...not clearing at all down low ... If you peddle your butt off up hill about 5 miles you may get above it ...but she is fogged in Solid here right now ...can not see sheet ! All I know it is saving a lot of bucks but that's o,k ....that's makes good hunting for me come late season :dunno: :chuckle:

I would look for deer instead of sheets. Go to the linen store for that.

We live up on a hill and today is the first day that we have seen sun, and not until about 2 pm. It has made hunting tough mainly from a safety point of view. We are hunting really thick reprod so add fog to that and it would be easy for some yayhoo not to see you even with orange on. We have been waiting until the late evenings to hunt when it has lifted a little bit.

Of course this is the clearcut I wanted to hunt.

Clear cuts and more open spaces turn into a white out when the fog is this thick. If you have to hunt in fog stay in the trees or tree lined spurs where there is more shadow and contrast (or get above it if you can).
If you ski or snowboard you know what I am talking about. During a white out the best place to be is in the trees.

The fog doesn't seem to be helping much. And to add to that lots of slash piles burnings so there is a bit of smoke lingering down low. It had been just a morning thing, but now seems like it is foggy even in the evenings--like 100 yd visibility if lucky.
-
72 and sunny, just like the last week. Probably not helping harvest too much either.
-
been scouting desert and the fog clears about 9 and the deer bed down about 9. go figure. mike w

I never seen it last this long around here ...It has been think all day long now for over a week ....I am not hiking 6 miles behind a gate to get above it :bash: :bash:
-
We have about 100 feet of visibility right now.
-
I don't think I've ever seen this much fog either, for this long, and some days it lasts ALL day. I'm hoping to get above the fog on Saturday, but I'm doubting that will happen. Well, the late blacktail season is bound to be good then, as long as this weather pattern changes by then.

I fished the Chehalis today and it wasn't that bad. On our way home around Rock Candy Mt. it cleared up and was blue bird skies then we dropped back down to 101 and it was socked in all the rest of the way home. We went to dinner at Van's on Yelm Hwy and the ride home was pretty sketchy. (Probably because my wife was driving :chuckle:) When I went to High School in Central California, we were out in the farming district and the fog was so bad that we had school closures and I remember driving my bright yellow mustang, not being able to see the end of the hood and having to pull way off the road and wait it out.

It has been a low fog where I am at so I have been getting above it. The problem with that is a sky without a cloud in sight. Still saw good numbers in Vail but would have been more with wind and rain. Deer tags filled, hope the weather is better for wife's Winston antlerless tag. The remainder of deer season looks the same as it has been, driest October I can recall.
