Hello,
This season was my first time deer hunting. The only deer I have been able to locate were doe. I was even within shooting distance of about 12 doe one day, but no bucks were in sight. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I hunted in both GMU 139 and 142. Does anyone hunt deer around here and have any pointers for locating bucks?

The only advice I can offer is what I was told as a youth by my Grand father;
Son you don't think those does get on a bus to go find a buck? They're around just have patience.

My first season too! Staring at the same clearcut for a 4 or 5 hours,, and EVERYTHING starts to grow horns,,, don't it?

Yes, by the last few days of the season, I had to look at each doe a few times, because I could swear those ears were really antlers. But no, they were ears.

Sometimes, the first one is the hardest. Be patient and keep hunting.

Your in a good spot, seeing doe means bucks wont be far behind. You must be doing it right cause your seeing deer. Stay with it a buck will came along

If the bucks weren't there there wouldn't be any deer at all.
