Title: new to bear hunting.
Post by: jkhbuchanan on October 23, 2013, 12:28:33 AM
So I'm a little new to bear hunting. Scouted a little last year and seen one beer all season In the greenwater area. Finnaly got out of the military this year and have plenty of time. My buddy has never hunted before and called me up when he got back from afghanistan  and said he wants to head out on a 4 day and do some bear hunting. So my question is what gmu or area is good for a 4 day pack in bear hunt. We plan on parking the truck and hiking in to set up camp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for honey holes just advice.

Any foot hills with clear cuts from the canadian border to the coast should be just fine for bear. It will be a bit tougher to find them this time of year cause most of the berries are gone, so they arent so concentrated, but they are still out and very active looking for food.

Best of luck!

How rough are the waters out there? Is it all public land? Is it firearm restricted at all out there?

Long Island is archery only.
