Well after 12 days of hunting, and a lot of does and a few spikes I just couldn’t pass up on this forky! I actually didn’t have much time to think about it really. The heavy fog forced me to hunt the timber. Still hunting along I heard a squirrel start barking a ways off. Thinking that there was no way he had heard me or seen me I held up and waited for a while. About 3 minutes later I hear some sticks break and see two deer running through the woods to me, they look like does. 15 feet away the lead doe stops and sees me and I realize the back one is a buck. The doe takes a hard right and the buck ( never brings his head up, never more then 3 feet off the doe) follows suit. 20 feet later and one shot from the .300 and i have my first blacktail! Super excited! All I have to say is don’t give up, it happens just like that.
