Title: GSP for adoption
Post by: jollyskwala on October 25, 2013, 09:47:49 AM
Hey Folks-

I have a 4 yr old female GSP that I need to give up for adoption. I got divorced 3 years ago and my ex can no longer have her( I travel for work) when I'm not in town. We've been sharing her, but she is no longer willing to do that. It kills me to do this, but I don't have a choice. I would like her to go to a good hunting home, but it's doesn't have to be.....but she can't be locked in a kennel or house all day.

She is very athletic and needs to get her exercise. She's about 60 lbs. She's had a couple hundred birds shot over her and is a good hunting dog. She's had some amazing long distance retrieves. I spent hundreds of hours training her and working with a trainer too.  She's fixed, current on vaccinations and house broken. She is good with kids and other dogs and cats. Please let me know if you or if you know someone who is interested. I can send pics and talk on the phone if you have questions. Thanks.

I wish I could help you out with this one, but I've already got 2 of my own that require a lot of my time.  Good luck finding a home.

If you get jammed up, I can take her for a while and work on rehoming her.

If you need any other help with this let me know. I know I could find her a good home if she was local. Yes I could house her for a bit.

Jolly I would have taken her, but we added a new GSP pup to our household (along with a GWP, dachsund, and chichiua) and I don't think the wife would allow it. I would get her for my dad, but I think that my mom would be mad. His GWP had to be put down this past year and he was talking about dogs again the other day. Maybe I will throw it out to him and show him the pictures.

Sorry Jolly he said no. He is leaving for a month to Mexico, so it probably would not have made a good transition anyways. Hope you find a home soon.

Thank you so much for all the replies. Much appreciated. I live in Nine Mile Falls, about 12 miles NW of Spokane, but could drive somewhere for the right person/environment.

We just had to put our female GSP down because she had cancer.........

We are on 20 acres and are retired ( young 59 ) so would be able to give her quality time.  If she is available, we will take her........period.   R

Oh ya.......we are north on hwy 25 to Daisy, and up in the hills........

Thank you all for the replies. A friend of mine heard I was putting her up for adoption and convinced me to try and do a dog sharing arrangement. I figured it's worth a try. Hopefully it works. If it does not I will contact the folks who have responded. I so greatly appreciate everyone's responses. I really do. Thanks again.

Dan Hoke in Cheney is a GSP trainer.  He may be able to find a hunting home for her.

Hi Folks-

Well, the Dog sharing arrangement has not worked out. I tried and my friends and neighbors have tried but I don't think it's best for her and think she can have a better life. It breaks my heart but I want what is best for her. BTW-  Her name is Whiskey( as in whiskey river by willie).  So i realize it's been awhile since I first posted, but if anyone is interested please let me know. I live in 9 mile falls, outside of Spokane. My # is 206 571 2817. Thanks.
