Went over to moses lake and stayed at the Mar Don and hunted from there. This hunt was;nt the piece of cake hunt I thought it would be the weather was hot and a lot of other activity going on. There were duck hunters; pheasant hunters and elk hunters as well as people farming. You would think the state could figure out somehow on a quality hunt that you put in 14 years to get that every time you drove down a road pheasant hunters and dogs would be hunting it and when you got to the end you would find a couple trucks with duck hunters. I don't think I would have got a nice buck if I had;nt had Dick Hemore showing me places to go he is a great hunter and loves to take people around the hunting area and tell them where he has seen bucks we met him last year when my grandson had the tag and when I found out I had the tag I called him. I even got to visit Rasbo and his wife Gladys at there new place and it made the trip even more special they are great people. The first day we saw 10 bucks but no shooters and it was foggy until 9 o;lock. The second day was clear and we passed on a nice 4x3 and a couple 3 points. Dick said I will show you my Honey Hole but I usually don't go there until about the 4th day until deer have been run into there. We pulled into the Honey Hole and he said lets look from here and immediately spotted my buck. I shoot a 30-378 and it was 350 yards and I made a good shot and hit it in the neck and I will leave out what happened on the first 5 shots. Anyway here is my Deseret deer and I recommend if you draw a Desert tag call Dick he took us through so many keep out-no trespassing-and leased land he has access to you should call him.

Great buck! Although I can understand the lack of solitude on your hunt, I can guarantee you that you wouldn't see as many deer during the day in the desert WITHOUT the bird hunters...just a fact, there are too many thickets for those big bucks to hunker down in. The hunters and dogs push then around during the day.

Are you suggesting the state is at fault for not shutting down the pheasant and waterfowl seasons for the 18 permit holders? I think a litte pressure moves the deer a bit Great buck congrats
-
Great Buck!!
-
Nice work!
-
I guess people and dogs and shooting probley do move deer around but if you have a disability permit and can't hike 5 miles in sand it makes it a little tougher. Not anything against bird hunting we got a lot of information of deer sightings just saying the hunt was harder than I thought it would be. I had a great time with my son and Dick and feel luckey to draw the tag I had 14 points so it was a great time for me and thankful for the buck.
