Title: Hi Mountain snack stick question
Post by: DoubleJ on October 31, 2013, 03:28:56 PM
Just got a Hi Mountain snack stick kit and I was reading the instructions and nowhere does it say to add pork.  Is adding pork to the snack stick mix something I should do or make them with straight deer meat?  The other mix kit for snack sticks I have says add 5lbs of pork to 15lbs of game meat.

I don't think they distinguish what type of meat in their directions.

A good rule of thumb for snack sticks with deer meat is 5lbs pork fat per 20lbs dear.

If you are using pork butt and not straight fat then it might be a little closer to a 50/50 mix if  you want to avoid dryness.
