Title: elk bugling in Nov
Post by: Falcon on November 01, 2013, 07:50:30 AM: I have heard that some bulls have been pretty actice into late Oct this year.

Anybody hear any elk bugling this late in the season?

I've heard them bugle over the years during modern in November a few times. It happens.

Post by: SemperFidelis97 on November 01, 2013, 08:23:16 AM: I had a huge 7x7 in my backyard yesterday pushing around cows, and raking the hell out of some cottonwoods. Not the behavior I expect to see this time of year out of elk.

:chuckle: I hear bugling during the same timeframe as well, though can't say how many of the bugling is actually elk though. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

From 10/22 to 10/27 I observed and hunted a heard of about 150 below the observatory, the bulls were bugling, the cows were calling, herd bulls fending off satellite, bulls fighting, and mating. It was the craziest thing I have ever seen. Awesome, but then all the construction workers showed up and spotted them and they didn't last long. They broke up on sunday morning. It was a full on Rut this year for rifle hunters.
