So i have a late whitetail buck tag.
I have been researching whitetails, and was wondering do you hunt them like they do back east??? Rattle in the rut? Find rub lines?
Or is it a spot and stalk game? Sit and wait? Road hunt?
Just looking at something to start with. I have seen the deer feeder sit in the blind and drink coffee hunt and pretty sure i will not be hunting that way next week...

I like to hunt well after the rut but the same technique works either way. Find a saddle or some kind of land structure that divides a bedding and feeding area with intersecting multiple trails. Look for a smaller trail that parallels the min intersecting trails. Set up either in a treestand or ground blind, be as scent and movement free as possible and wait them out. Best bet is to avoid walking on the actual trail unless absolutely necessary or with deer scent on your boots. Get to your stand and set up at least an hour before daylight, that is AT your stand, not on your way. It gives the world a little time to calm down. If during the rut do the same stuff but rattle a bit just after daylight. :twocents:

Depends, if hunting timber, I like to still hunt really slow. Even sitting for 20-30 minutes. If hunting the open get high up and watch for bucks running does, or just watch for groups of does.
No matter what, stay out there all day.

Whitetails are creatures of edges! clearcuts,fields,CRP, creeks,rivers rock bluffs and cliffs. They will usually always skirt the edge of any of these or just inside. Small ridges in the timber the bucks will travel these scent checking for does. Saddles are good for cruising bucks going from one draw to the next.Pinch points where the deer travel is forced to move thru a certain area undetected example is finding 2 big clear cuts where they are near each other creating some big timber between the 2..you know that if deer need to go up or down the mt they will travel between the 2 cuts or they will skirt the corners of the outside edges of the cuts..deer are lazy and will take the easiest most efficent route possible with cover in mind. Be aware of where and how the deer are using the area...You dont wanna head in the morning before light if you going to tromp thru where they are feeding to get to where u wanna be. Find another way in or just wait.
