Title: Accubond Long Range... are these out yet? whats the deal?

I have heard they had quality issues, poor performance, etc. But I have yet to actually SEE them available for sale! Moreover they are advertised like crazy in every hunting magazine.

I was looking for some .277 caliber Accubonds to order online the other day and couldn't find any. They did have Ballistic Tips in stock, but that's the bullet I'm trying to get away from.

I hope they become available soon. I wanted to test out the 150 grain Long Range Accubond.

I was wanting to do some reloading this winter, and shooting, at 400 to 500 yards. I've got a spot I want to hunt for blacktails next year where the closest shot would be 400 yards. Longest shot, about 550.

Not even sure I would shoot at 550. I don't know if I, or my rifle, is capable.

I have been shooting the Berger VLDs and they shoot darn good. I haven't shot further than 550 yards on paper, and was very impressed with what my rifle and load can do at that distance. My favorite spots require a 400-700 yard shot.

I use Grafs quite a bit. They take their time getting it out the door, but they are nice to work with otherwise.

Our Sportsman's Warehouse had a bunch a few weeks ago. Now just down to a few .30 cal.

Post by: WoodlandShooter on November 05, 2013, 09:31:07 AM: IMO, there is really no need for these bullets under 500 yards as a standard 130 grain factory load will work quite well at that range -provided you have accurate range and drop data...accurate shot placement is a requirement!! Also keep in mind retained energy to initiate a humane kill...aka. initiate hydrostatic shock.

Factory 130 Ballistic Silvertips have 1500 ftxlbs at ~ 300 yards, and 1000 ftxlbs at 500 yards
Now if going past that, then yes, the NABLR or Matrix will be needed....and obviously drop data, wind reading etc...etc...

My pet load for the 150 Grain NABLR has 1500 ftxlbs of energy at 575 yards and 1000 ftxlbs at 875 yards

These ballistics data are at 1 standard atmosphere.
