My dad was drawn for a naches cow, he is a disabled hunter so before the Internet police start responding let me start out by saying, it is legal for me to shoot his elk! My cousins, friends and I wanted nothing more than to see my dad harvest his 2 nd elk in way too many years of hunting, he has archery hunted for the past twenty years or so. We had an amazing hunt, saw elk everyday, but the fog was stoping us from getting good shots. My dad hasn't shot rifles in a long time, I let him use my .300 mag with the huskemaw scope, the first opportunity we had was a cow at 534 yards. It was a clean miss, we were looking for evidence of a hit when 2 cows went walking by him around 100 yards or closer away. But of course we could not shoot till we gathered enough proof that it was a clear miss. The next opportunity was 2 days later at 346 yards, again a clean miss. I set up for a second shot at 600 yards but she stopped behind a tree and slipped over the hill. My dads condition with his heart made it painful for him every time the time came to shoot, the excitement was great to see in him at his age but the adrenalin gave him chest pains. We all wanted nothing more than to see him harvest but after a good talk, we all decided anything beyond 2 or 300 yards that I would take the shot. On the fourth day it was very foggy, earlier we said a little prayer asking for a successful hunt and for a clear hill side. About 45 min later the clouds parted and four cows were feeding on a hill side a long ways away. We decided to take a shot, I ranged the biggest cow at 546 yards. Brian watched the cow hump up and go down into the reprod. After a short search we found her just 200 yards up above the road, cow down. I really like this long range scope, one shot kill. I would like to thank the two Brian's, jay, bill, and my dad for such an amazing hunt. Just nothing like being with friends and family in the woods hunting or doing what ever! Priceless days for us, love you dad!

I must say what a great experience and to see the smiles on your dads face are absolutely priceless! It was clear he was getting tired, and with all the family and friends being part of it and experiencing the hunt together I am pretty sure that it feels as good to him as him shooting it himself. We are lucky to have each other in our lives to share our love of hunting and friendship. Your dad cracks me up and it just brings me as well as others sheer joy to be around him. Now you on the other hand????.....that is a different story! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Just kidding of course. Thanks for letting us share this hunt with you and your dad and congrats on a helluva shot!! Priceless memories.

Thanks for the kind words, it really meant the world to him to have people around that mean so much to him. He's been blessed to have you guys for a hunting family. I could never thank you all enough for having him in your camp all these years!

Congrats and I have to say I am also a disabled hunter I have had 7 surgery's on my shoulder/arms so I can not shot or pull a bow so My husband has to shot it for me but you know he nor I think its his kill its mine I help scout, glass, skin, gut, pack out and eat.What you did for your dad is great and you made him feel needed.

This was one of my favorite hunts ever. To be with such a great group of guys all wanting to help and be a part of this, was something I won't forget. My Uncle Eddie (Trophyhunts dad) has been like a 2nd father to me. He convinced me to shoot a bow in his back yard 23 years ago, and then gave me that bow on the spot. He created in me what is now my greatest passion - archery elk hunting - and he has been a part of our camp ever year since! Eddie spent countless days in the woods with me, teaching me a lot and driving me to be a better hunter. I owe a lot of my happiness to my uncle and loved watching him embrace this experience with all of us.
Unfortunately I had to go home the morning of the kill, but I was there to see a couple of shots, and a lot of excitement and I feel blessed because of it.
Thank you Jerry for letting us all be a part of this!!

what can I say after that! Brian, I am very greatful for you guys embracing my dad and the friends he has made in all these years bow hunting with you guys. I couldn't ask for better group of guys for him to be hunting with, thank you!
