Title: change in plans. unit 658 access?
Post by: bankwalker on November 03, 2013, 07:38:12 PM
Anyone hunting the north river unit. I'm curious if access is limited with all the changes in tree farm access/fee recently. I'm seriously thinking about buying a modern elk tag in the morning instead of waiting till late archery elk. But don't want to makerthe purchase then get down to a locked up area with not many other options.

Wynoochee is my last resort for these possible change in plans.

I haven't been down there lately but my understanding is that the Weyerhaeuser part of the unit is open. The Hancock is not.

By open I mean drive in access. The Hancock side is open to hunting but you have to hike in. They've got it locked up tight.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll have to make a run down there in the morning and see what's locked up and open before I decide to buy a tag tomorrow. Nice thing its not far out to cosi or Monte to buy a tag  :chuckle:
