Anyone done any good up around the 1944 or 1950 country?
-
There aren't very many animals left up there.

With all the people out there figured someone would knock something down. Not too Far East of there we dropped a small 5x5 father in law was able to fill his tag. Worked out pretty slick cut him in half an made a pole out of a little cedar and carried him out like cave men.

I should have had one opening morning, spotted a small herd with a typical Winston 4x4 on a clearcut on the port blakely side looking from the 3000 right at dark the night before, got the maps out figured out how to get there, left the next morning in the dark via headlamps, with my buddy spotting from the opposite hill. was just getting light and I was about 200 yards from the clear cut when he radio'd to me that they were right where we left them, about 2 minutes later he calls back over to tell me that a crew bus was driving in, 4 shots later the elk was down by the guy in the truck. He fired up the shovel loader that was in the cut and loaded the bull in the back of his truck. I was pretty frustrated to say the least since this was a no vehicle access area, and I was the only one besides him in near the area at daylight.. I am thinking B.S
