Honestly how many coyotes do you get a year, what side of the state, and what method do you mainly use?
-
0. I've only ever seen one in the wild and that was him running across the road I was driving on. I couldn't speed up in time
-
I would say 1-2 per year mostly on the westside with my 7mm or my 6.5 Grendel
-
2 per year and usually with my .270.
I see way more than I kill....hopefully that is going to change this year. This year I my goal is 10 dogs. I will be using one of three rifles .270, 22-250, .223.
-
I should of averaged 3 today ...but my shooting skills are rusty :bash: :bash: :chuckle:
-
Same here--Zero. I see quite a few, just can't seem to connect! Might have got one last year, but I was too lazy to trudge 1/4 mile across a field to check. A day or so later I saw where a couple of snowmobiles circled a dark spot in the field right where I last saw it.... I thought he ran over a hill out of sight! :dunno:
-
I really want to go tomorrow but it sounds like things are going back to normal on the wetside ...RAINY :bash: :bash: :bdid: They came in good this morning ...I just was not awake or something ...I knew when I saw the frost on my roof it was a good morning for coyotes ...now I want to go again :dunno: :chuckle:
-
depends on the year...last 3 years I havent killed many. Problem is I never get during coyote madness and I dont live in the BFE anymore. best year was approximately 35

Rain is in the forecast here on the dry side too. 60% chance means sure thing. We got rain a few days ago, and the chance was only 20%... :dunno:

the hunting is never as good....Therefore I plan to hit the snowline tomorrow and give it a shot....Dragging the new slayer around this year...Hopefully the 22-250 doesnt have to make an appearance this season.

My best year was 21 between September and Christmas. Haven't chased them for a few years as I got a new dog and have spent my free time chasing birds.
-
1-3 id say. Mostly taken during deer hunting.
-
I used to shoot between 30-40 each year when I hit it hard, but since life got in the way and I grew up I probably average 15 now.
-
had one come up to me saturday while elk hunting... he got within ten yards and realized I was human... I stuck my tongue out at him and he bailed at warp speed... can't bring myself to shoot a little guy like that... reminds me too much of my dog.
-
betwwen 10 to 13 a year. only 4 or 5 of those by calling
-
About 20 a year and 90% of them by calling
-
The ones with collars are easier to find and you don't have to lead them as much. :chuckle:
-
Lots 20+ but I never leave home without my 204 and shoot everyone I see
-
I would guess a solid ten, most of those come in the spring and don't really get out to call. First year in the coyote madness, so I am actually going to try.
-
20+ for the last several years about 5-15 before i started calling
-
Got 27 last year, gunna try to get over 40 this year and some bobcats too.
-
about 8, but I only take em when we are calving or dead of winter for their pelts. I call them all in with hand calls.
-
5 so far this year. I use a e-caller mostly and hand calls for steering or battery failures. I shoot a 243 or 300wm. Plus I got my 44mag in my lap for those dogs that come in from the unexpected angles
-
I'm on the wet side and usually shoot between 15-40 per year. A lot of them on mine and my neighbor's land. I am fortunate to be surrounded by cattlemen (myself included) and get to utilize cow carcasses to draw them in. I shoot em' with everything from a bow, shotgun to whatever rifle I have a hankerin for. These local coyotes have become call shy. When I do call I like my Johnny Stewart PM-4 remote caller. I set it up at least 100+ yards away from it and use either a bird wing fluttering in the wind on a stick or hanging from a branch or some goofy cat toy that rolls around with a raccoon tail on it. If we have a problem coyote that is really difficult to get, I tie a live chicken up to a stake and let it squawk. Of there is a yote in the area he will come in on a string! My wife laughs when she sees me walking across the pasture dragging a coyote with one hand, a live chicken tucked under my arm and an e-caller in my other hand! :chuckle:

My best year was 19, married, kids & life have slowed it way down. I either use .222,.223 or my .243. I have got them with a my 7 & .338 with messy results. Use mostly hand calls bu carry a ecall as well, vocalizations have worked best for me, I think I've only got a hand full in over Tue years with distress. Mostly hunt from Feb to march. Try not to t them after ther pupped out. Just have trouble shootin the little guys even knowing what they grow into.
-
Call them in ,FoxPro Field Staff,East side, I wont mention numbers , Lets just say i keep my land owners very happy .
-
Got 2 more this evening about 1/2 hour before dark. Just happened to look out and see them sneaking across the pasture. Stopped them with a whistle, dropped one in his tracks at 150 yards and hit the other at a dead run at almost 200. 2 shots, 2 dead yotes = 2 happy cattle owners! :IBCOOL:
-
I've shot 3 this year
-
I usually get 1 or more, while hunting for other stuff, I've taken em out with my 270, 22LR, and even called one into my turkey setup and took it out with my shotgun. I don't spend time specifically hunting yotes but I'd like to get into it.
