my question is can you carry a rifle during deer season if you don't have a deer tag? mike w
-
Are you hunting deer?
-
You can carry a rifle any time you want too in the woods - why do you ask this specific question?
I'm thinking that you are asking the wrong question, please elaborate!
-
I believe it must be smaller than what is considered legal for big game in this state, i.e. 223 22-250.......22lr types.
-
only if he's hunting - IE: Coyote then you'd be correct (hunter orange applies)
-
You can carry a rifle when its not deer season, hell you can sling a rifle over your back downtown if you want. As long as you are not doing anything illegal you are ok!
-
If you don't even have a hunting license ,it's still legal to carry it. If some ranger or cop is gonna ask you something just say it's for bear defense.

According to WDFG Hunting Season and Rules pamphlet,
Page 71, article 10.
Hunting during modern firearm deer or elk seasons: You may not hunt wildlife during any modern firearm deer or elk season, with any firearm 24 caliber or larger or containing slugs or buckshot for big game, unless you have a valid license, permit and tag for one of the following: deer, elk, black bear, cougar, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, or moose During any modern firearm deer or elk season, it is illegal to hunt any wildlife after legal hunting hours See exceptions to legal big game hunting hours on page 74
So, you might be walking a very thin line should you decide to carry a big bore in the woods during hunting season.

sure you can. Just don't shoot any deer, or any animal you don't have a tag for. Blaze orange would be a safe bet also.

That says hunting.....if I'm reading it correctly hes just in the woods not hunting....if that's the case never point your rifle towards any animal unless its self defense
-
why would you want to carry a rifle inless you where hunting some thing ?
-
deerhunter... I never said it was against the law to carry a rifle in the woods, I just quoted from the hunting regs, and said you might be walking a thin line. When it comes to WDFW agents I think that you would be presumed guilty, rather you are or aren't, if they came upon somebody walking around in the woods with a big-bore during a hunting season and had no license, or tag...just sayin...

I go tromping in the woods all the time with my Glock 34 and 870. I try to be more careful during hunting season just staying out of their way or wear some orange just for my own safety. but otherwise Have at er!
