anyone ever played with the 30-30 in a singleshot rifle? i was wondering how one would behave when fed spitzer type bullets? JB

I’ve been playing with the three loads in the photo. The one on top I shoot single shot out of my Marlin 336. Of course I can’t put it through the magazine. It has potential but right now the middle round in the photo is the most accurate.

I have thought about loading some nosler AB for my savage but just havent done it yet.

May need to research and see if the spitzer bullets will mushroom, preform as need, with the lower 30-30 velositys. I have killed a few whitetails with 150gr rem core-loks round nose, bulk bag of bullets. Used IMR 4350 powder, cant remember the grains used.

CP,
You can make that top round into a two shooter. One in the chamber and one in the tube.

I doubt it will work through the mag, it looks like the COL is to long to work, That's one thing about using pointed bullets in a lever gun, they a longer for the weight than flat points.
