Title: Canine Carcass
Post by: Easy-E on November 05, 2013, 10:22:21 AM
I stumbled across this in the wilderness - found it about 100 yards away from a ravaged elk carcass. My vet friend thinks its a wolf based on the size of the canine tooth. Oddly enough, I also found an old rusty shovel close by.......

Cheers!

Tough to say but it could be a coyote that got caught snacking on a wolf kill.

That looks very similar to the post I made (Identify the Killer) a few weeks ago in the coyote forum. Go take a look and tell me if they look the same or not.

Similar, but not quite the same. I think the picture I posted in this thread is the remains of a young wolf, not a coyote. Now as to what predator took it out, any guess is as good as mine. My thoughts are that this young wolf got injured while the pack was dragging down the cow elk, and the pack finished it off.
