Title: Winston success... Almost
Post by: Ice monkey on November 09, 2013, 02:10:03 PM
This was my second year hunting elk in WA. I spent the summer scouting Winson but not having a four wheel drive vehicle really limited my hunting locations. I found a great spot with lots of sign. After three days of patience, I finally found a nice 3x3 bedded down in a swampy mess. By the time I spotted the bull, I couldn't locate the third point, he bolted! I had the gun up but wasn't sure it was a 3 point because I couldn't see the eye guards. It was a great hunt and I look forward to tomorrow! I hope he didn't run too far!

A lot of times if they don't wind you they'll stop with a cow call. Just blow it when they turn to run and in most cases they will stop just long enough for a shot. Works for me.
