Title: WDFW "Go Hunt" Map Help Pls.
Post by: Colin on November 14, 2013, 12:09:29 PM
Was looking at this map and was having a little trouble where I can try and hunt in western Washington. I see the "wildlife areas" marked in blue, like Crescent Lake near Duvall and HQ in the Skagit area but are areas in blue the only public lands that can be hunted?

No, bluw areas are exactly what the legend tells you about them.  There is more public land out there than just the blue areas marked.  Most blue areas are open to hunting.

On the top right of the screen you can select layers. Select the landownership layer and it will show you public land. Then it is harder to find out from the map if there is huntable timerland as well.

So probably more silly questions Bookworm if I'm doing this correctly the Landowner layers is the Public/Tribal Lands layer that you access from the top right portion of the map.

My question is which of these areas can I legally hunt? State DNR areas?

I know that you can hunt Wildlife, Forest Service Wilderness, Forest Service, and DNR. Most places have National Forest, DNR and Private Timber on the westside. East side is a whole different ball of wax that I am not up to speed on.
