Finally got out for a duck hunt today and made our blind. Ended up getting a limit of teal and my dad shot 6 with one being a drake wood duck. Didn't see crap for mallards though. Saw thousands of locals before the season started and now there all playing ninja and vanished. Must be nocturnal like the big bucks :dunno:

We have had lots of mallard hens in recent hunts. Not sure where the drakes have gone.

No joke. We've hit our hen limit the last two times out. And hit it early in the hunt too.

I've seen hundreds of mallards down in the Puyallup valley just today. They seem to be feeding on all the farm land unfortunately its all right next to schools and homes, so no shot guns allowed. Lots of Canadians too I think I might try to stick a few with an arrow before seasons end.

Headed over to Mason County to finish up the late deer season. Seen quite a few off highway 3 huddled up in a little cove just past Shelton. Not sure if you can hunt that spot but if one could, you could limit out quick.

The full moon was Sunday, usually not good for me hunting mallards. The weather in Canada has been terribly cold and snowing so it will be better next weekend.

Hope you're right. Been pretty slow us so far.

Howdy,
I got these on Saturday- first ever greenheads for me! (Thank you LORD) We were hunting Western WA sort of near Snohomish County. We had a mix of teal, mallard and widgeon deeks out but the only ducks we got that day were mallards.
Did hear and see a lot of widgeon flying around though.
Good luck to all! Should only get better!
