Spoke with the owner of AR15 Performance about this new chambering, sounds like if it's as advertised it would make for a great AR build. Barrels will be in soon and dies to follow. The .270AR is based on the 6.5x47 Lapua case.

Is that similar to the 6.8 SPC? that's a .270 bore. :dunno:

I just finished my 6.5 Grendel, now I have to go shopping again. :)

It never ends, I have a 18" Satern 8.75 twist on its way to replace my AA 17". I want to assemble 3 more uppers, .270AR, 6.5x6.8 and a 25x45.

I just finished a 6mmX6.8 SPC. I make my own brass by necking down 6.8 brass in 3 steps. 6.8 to 6.5 to 6mm. I have a 6.8 SPC, and like it, but the 6mm is better!

The 6x6.8 SPC should be wicked on Rockchucks with the V-Max's and the 90gr Accubond would be a deer slayer.
Are you using a 6.8 SPC bushing die and just changing out bushings?
-
No, I'm not that high-teck--I just use the 6.8 and 6.5 sizing dies without the expander ball, and the 6mm Hornady neck sizing die WITH the expander ball/decapper. Then I skim a bit off the necks with a neck turner to get the slight flare off the neck from the necking-down process, and to thin the necks slightly. One thing though. I found out the hard way, that after the whole process is over, it's a good idea to run the cases through the 6.8 sizing die again, because the slightest bulge in the case will cause a round to not chamber. This was true for my 6mmX6.8 SPC and my 6.5 Grendel necked down to .204. (Which is a round I dearly love!)

A Coworker claims to have a .270 WSM barrel for an AR10 platform.
Never seen or heard of one until he said he had one, and plans to build it some day :dunno:

I never cared for the .270 Winchester, I really like the .270 WSM. I have taken several Mulies with the .270 WSM with 140 Accubonds and 130 Hornady Interlocks and it kills like lightning. It would be interesting to see one on a AR-10 or SR25.

Im a big fan of the .270 and thought of trying to get it from him for a future build :bfg:

I had a .270 rifle years ago. Sold it when I was building my house. Now the only thing I have that shoots a .270 bullet is my 6.8 SPC. an AR that shoots the .270 WSM would be something to see!
