Curious about how the season is looking and wether or not I should head up there.
-
247 open? or you talking about 247 archery permit?
-
Yes I'm talking about the 247 special archery permit, and the 243 late hunt.
-
If you have a 247 permit I would suggest you go there!!

Don't have the permit. Wish I did! Just wanted to know if it's producing due to 243&247 being close to each other.

243 & 247...are not close to each other...there is a big lake that seperates the two and both have two totally different deer herds...with 247 being the Entiat and the "famed" Chelan Co "herd" and 243 being Manson (yes it's in Chelan Co) but those deer are part of the "famed" Okanogan "herd" due to the lake...yes, deer do swim the lake, like a few in the summer, but not in the winter...and none in serious numbers to make it a "crossing" of any sorts...it helps the herds as this is a natural barrier. I talked to the Yakima Bio a year ago and the lice was really bad, heading north to Kittitas Co and they feared the Chelan Co (Entiat and south) would get it bad in due time...but it shouldn't make it to the Okanogan herd since the lake is in the way...
this is also the reason why the Manson "Quality" tag isn't in the same catagory as the Entiat, Slide Ridge, Chiwawa, and Swakane...yes there are big deer in all of them, but Manson should be considered more of an Okanogan area since those deer winter on both sides of the Methow Mountains, just depends on if the deer turns left (into the Methow) or right (into the Lake Chelan basin) when they migrate out...

PS. Per my brother, who was up in the Entiat Unit for work yesterday, there is at least one 30" 7x9...but he is on private property near the Lake...by a big golf course that has a gate house to enter the entire mountain...

Thank you for Head up. We all will go there!

I highly recommend it...I can't stand that place and that most if not all of the home owners up there are anti's...in fact the developer in the past has been caught illegally posting public land with their signs saying "Keep out, no hunting"...a few years ago I sent one of my buddies up to some public land on the last day of the season and he had a nice 4x4 in his scope, right behind one of the illegal signs...he calls me and tells me where he is and I tell him that the sign is illegal and he is on public land...he does the right thing and passes the buck up, eating his tag. He also called the game warden (so did my family) and sure enough the warden went up there and confirmed it was public land...since the sign was one of the standard notices put up all along the real private land (made just for this development) the developer was contacted and cited for posting public land...it wasn't the first time he had done this...
But back to this buck...it is well up on the private lands, and the homeowners assoc rules state no hunting so it is very safe...they impose heavy fines for those that violate the HOA's...plus will consider it poaching and in an ironic turn of events will call the gamies, who have to do their jobs...so I have no issues telling anyone there is a 30" 7x9 up there...hopefully he finds love with some does that will drop fawn out of the private lands...
