Didn't realize till just now that there was a coyote madness contest going so looks like I missed out on it for this year. First pic is a female I shot Friday morning. Smart dog. Took her sweet time coming in and didn't want to come to close. Made around a 250 yard shot with a .222. Went out Sunday afternoon and called in the male. He came in a low spot and winded me. Stopped at around 200 yards and I dropped him with a 22-250. After shooting him saw another one off in the distance. While taking the pic heard it yipping over the hill. Hike over there and called and it came running in. I had my 11 year old nephew with me and he shot the coyote at about 80 yards. It flopped around and I thought it was done but jumped up and dipped into a low spot. Ran over there and couldn't find it. We searched but it was getting dark. Should have put a finisher shot in it when I had the chance but didn't think it needed it. It was his first time coyote hunting and his first shot at one. Sucks we couldn't get a pic but I told him that it's not all about pics. That's one less dog around to chase pheasants and fawns and that's what were out there to do. He can't wait to go again.

Nice looking yotes! Had the same thing happen to me, shot a yote on a small rise saw a lot of flopping around but when I got there I find nothing.
-
I just felt bad that his first one got away because I made a bad decision. I love that old .222 though. Good ol Remington. My dad has shot a lot of yotes with it. If anyone has one they'd like to sell then pm me!

 there is still room on some teams, pm raul duke or someone on a team that has empty spots if you want in. nice shooting and good job getting a young hunter involved

I'll check that out! That kid has really impressed me out hunting. I've been waiting a long time for him to be old enough to go and for him to get a buck and coyote with his first shots just straight blows me away. I missed the first shot I took at my first buck and I didn't get a coyote till I was 14. Missed a few before that too!

love that .222 round as well. my son used one in south Africa, when we shot up the box of ammo I asked the guide if I could have the box to show the kids in my hunter's education classes that most modern ammo maker's put a picture of intended target on the box.

Nice! We might have to get together sometime and drop some dogs.

I've been wanting to go but want to save them for the classic! I live off Clodfelter on the ridge overlooking Badger canyon
-
Yeah I've got some spots that I'll hold off on hunting till the classic. Right now I'm just hunting ground that's well known to a lot of coyote hunters. Either they're leaving them for the classic too or they can't call worth a crap. I won't make it out today but I'll be out all weekend. I finished a 29 hour shift at work last night so today I'm just going to relax and eat.
-
Yeah sounds like you you earned it! Planning on going out Sat a.m. with my classic partner...do a little howling/scouting and maybe make a stand. Shot a dog out of the upstairs window bout 2 weeks ago at my in laws with a 25-06. Been trying to shoot her for a while!
-
Tryin ta shoot who, the in-laws or the dog that's been in the area. I saw a couple nice ones cuAcross clodfelter the other day, if only I wasn't runnin late as usual.
-
The song dog of course...I lucked out, my in laws are great people. I had seen that dog 2 or 3 times run across the driveway coming and going. This time I was in the house seen her up above bout 100 yds got the rifle and posted up the window but she was gone.....went to my war bag and grabbed a squealer called for a min. Man those dogs are sneaky and it's amazing how well they blend in. I was lookin in the general area I knew she was and when I spotted her she had come out without me seeing her move.....dead dog

2 more today in the fog. 2nd one is probably the biggest I've ever shot. Fat old male.
-
Dude, I'm officially jealous. That male does look big. Funny thing of all the coyotes I've shot I don't think I've ever killed a male. At least since I've been paying attention. Are they coming in to distress calls or mostly howls. I know this cold were having should definitely help with hunting. All I did today was drink Pepsi and eat leftovers! Nice dogs man!
-
I've been getting them with both.
-
Looks like the first one is this years pup same with one of those you posted last week...they are fun,get your confidence up for sure. I want to shoot a big male BAD
-
Yeah the first one today was this years pup. The ones from last year were both older than this year.
