So I've been looking for almost a year for a BFR in 500 JRH. They are incredibly hard to find and I finally gave up.
Instead I was going to have a custom revolver built off of a Ruger Super Blackhawk. So I picked up a 44 Mag Blackhawk (3.75") to use as a donor gun. Turns out that I like the donor gun and decided to keep it as is.
Then I went back on the search for another donor gun and found a Ruger Super Redhawk in 480 Ruger for a good price on GunBroker. That should be here by this weekend. I was hoping that this would fill my "need" for a big bore revolver for a while.
Today I get on GunBroker and wouldn't you know, there's a new, unfired BFR in 500 JRH for sale! :bash: Now I'm trying to decide whether to sell one of the Rugers and buy the BFR, let the BFR get away from me, or just buy it and have a surplus of very cool revolvers and a severe deficit in the gun budget for a few months. :bash:
Feast or famine!

Andrew, you have had a bunch of really cool guns over the years.
Looks like you better belly up to the bar and get that BFR to maintain your reputation! :chuckle:
-
BUY IT YORKE!
-
Hey, it's only money, can't take it with you..... ff
-
Rugers are small potatoes. Get it...
-
You can never have too many revolvers.
-
Belly up cuz I am living vicariously through you

You have to get it now. It just wouldn't be right to NOT get it.
You'd never forgive yourself for letting it slip away. :twocents:

:yeah:
You have to buy it now, you already told us about it, you do not want to look like a wu......
I mean that you have over extended your big bore needs, LOL
:chuckle:

You guys are all just a bunch of enablers! If you all want me to buy it, maybe some of you should step up and buy some of the stuff that I've been hoarding and never shoot. :tung: This would be gun number 5 for November. There was a Savage 99, the 20ga O/U, 44 Mag Blackhawk, and then the 480 Redhawk. My next thread is going to be about buying a bigger safe! :chuckle:
I think that somebody wants this gun more than I do. I ran the bid up to $1075 and I'm still not the high bidder! These guns sell for about $850 new. I'm willing to pay extra because I'm impatient, but not that much extra! If I want one that bad I can just spend $1300 and get one from the Magnum Research Precision center. At least then it's had a full action job done.
The auction ends around 6pm tomorrow. I'll see where it's at then.

Lol! Yeah, you better buy it! Its a sickness as we all know! You dont want to kick tourself later..by the way, how much for the 99. Lol!
-
You got the bucks to spend that much over MSRP run it up some more :twocents:

Bail out Yorke, someone wants it much worse. Sometimes I have got caught up in the heat of bidding. Keep your cash and go the $1300.00 route and know what you have at the end of the day.

Its a rare bird and hard to find chambering. MSRP is right there with your bid. All depends how bad you need it. Oops! WANT it! We all know their 2 different things! Hehe

The 99 was an early Christmas present from the owner of my favorite gun shop. It's a 1952 99G in 300 Savage. If I got rid of that one he'd track me down and shoot me with one of my own guns! (Which I bought from him :chuckle:)
I missed the end of of the auction on the 500 JRH because I was working. Otherwise I probably would have been tempted to bid higher. Fortunately the same seller just listed another one 30 minutes after the first auction ended! I may still have a chance to waste my money on something I won't use!

I feel like a fool paying MSRP for anything. It's like paying sticker price for a car. That said, if you happen to stumble across one of these BFRs I may be tempted to drive over to one of your stores AND pay MSRP just to get a look at it before buying. ;)

Lol, will keep my eyes open Yorke!

Every one you miss out on..... Is one you never get.

Me missing out on a gun is about as trajic as a diabetic missing out on a snickers bar. :chuckle: Just like a diabetic and a snickers, I'll probably live longer without the gun.
Of course I'll be watching the new auction that ends on Tuesday just to be safe.

Second one will probably go for a lot less. Glad I'm not a sick bass tard! :chuckle:
But then, you're looking at someone who has 3 FN pistols!
-
Buy it and decide if you like it. I usually purchase the items first if the come up and sell the ones I don't use anymore.
-
If you don't get it. Your going to regret it tomorrow. Simple as that. Get it. ;)
-
surplus is the word for 2013. get them all while you are still vertical and will them to me. thank you, mike w

I ended up missing the the second auction as well. This work thing is really getting in the way of my reckless spending! That's alright though, I'm going out to test the new 480 Ruger this afternoon.

That's how I ended up with my boat! :chuckle:
