We had all the basics, all of which were amazing... but we didn't really try any new dishes this year. Did ya'll try new side dishes that turned out good?
I love home made cranberry sauce... and this recipe is a keeper for next year.
6 Cups fresh cranberries
2/3 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Fresh Orange Juice
1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
1 TBSP Orange Zest
Half a vanilla bean, split and scraped
Put 3 cups of the cranberries and all the remaining ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat.Stir occasionally until the cranberries have popped and broken down, and the juices look slightly syrupy. Stir in the remaining ingredients and cook until they've popped (3 to 5 mins more). Remove from heat and discard the vanilla bean. Serve up and EnJoY!!!!!

Nothing new here. That recipe looks and sounds great. We will need to try it. Thanks!

I got lucky and had several that were hits this year on the boat. The tie for overall favorite went to my pumpkin cake log and the smiley summer sausage stuffing. All in all it was an excellent 11 course meal!

I'm in charge of appetizers so this years stuff was some old school stuff, deviled eggs and pigs in a blanket, crab stuffing jalapeno poppers, smoked salmon cheesball and crackers and a recipe off of facebook for crab dip.The crab dip was really the only "new" thing but it was a hit, hardly any left of any of the appetizers actually.

Add a pint of peach schnapps to your recipe and cook down with the first 3 cups of cranberries, and it is very similar to mine…Good stuff!
