Title: Gift ideas
Post by: Ed Hamlin on November 30, 2013, 03:42:35 AM
Well I'm looking at putting together a small tackle box for the boys so they can each loose their own lures and not their dad. Boys are 8, 9 and 11. They have the basics already but I'm looking to supply them for the river runs of steelhead, trout and salmon. What spinners and spoons should I be looking at? The gear they use are med action spinning rods about 6'6" with about 12lb line.  Local rivers where they are would be the Nisqualy and others near Ft Lewis. I would say a box and half a dozen lures each should last them a good day or two on the water. Feel free to suggest anything. Links would be helpful. Thanks guys.

blue foxes, pixies, vibrax (my fav- good heavy casting spinner), mepps, rooster tails (sonic rooster tails are by far the best), Kodiak customs, crocodiles(killer in salt water too), oh yeah.... DICK NITES!!!!!!

throw a couple rapallas, wiggle warts, and kwikfish in there with some corkies, 3 way swivels, yarn, steelhead jigs/worms, smelly jelly and a slinky kit....

OR if you are evil; give them empty tackle boxes, then put your box on the table, tell them to take 6 or 7 lures from your stash, then go buy yourself new gear once they took what they wanted

Maybe I should have expressed a little more frugalness. I need some cheap suggestions as these will possibly be lost in a very short time. Also, desired colors and sizes will help. I don't live in Washington but the kids do. I could just whip open a Cabelas catalog and spend $100 on each but am trying to keep cost down. Thanks

PM me if you are interested in some freebee samples of my artificial salmon eggs.  They work great for winter steelies and very easy for kids to use.
