Got to see a nice bear checked in at the Game Station this morning. It was killed near the West Virginia border. Beautiful coat. Now here is the disappointing part. First I asked the guy was it a male or female, he didn't know. Then I asked him where he got it, general area, he told me along the WV border on Sat afternoon. This is Monday morning and the temps on Sunday was in the upper 40s. The bear had still not been gutted. I'm betting the meat will be no good and in these warm temps wouldn't surprise me if the hair slips as well. Bummer.

:bash: that's too bad are they required to use the meat off bears back there?

People back that way usually only shoot a bear by accident. It is just like deer hunting, it is much easier in WA than it is in WVA.
You might as well had asked him where he has is extra cash hidden and when he is away from home. You'd have as much luck getting someone to tell you where and when they got their bear. He probably just shot that morning or day. (Being close to WVA, he might have even just found it along the side of the road. :) )

No it had been killed on Sat as there is no Sunday hunting here and it was at daylight. It had been dead for a bit.

Yep, there are several states that do that.
That stinks, probably more ways than one Machias.
