I'm not one to bare my soul often on the internet, so when things got really bad for me this year I just sort of sucked it up, and kept plugging away. One of the many problems I have had to deal with this year was the tragic loss of my bird dog Kalle. She got loose, and was hit by a car and killed in June. She was only 5, and a great hunting companion.\
It took me a month or so to decide to get back on the horse, and get another dog. In July I contacted John Greer with Tiger MT Labs, and put down a deposit for a new pup. I just received an e-mail today that my pup has been whelped. I pick her up on Jan. 15th. I'll need to get some chukar on the farm again real soon. Dog training starts the first of February.

Great news Old Dog, glad that is why I have not seen you post much on here. We put a deposit down on a new pup last week as well so we will have a new one at the end of the month too . Do you have any chukar anymore? PM me or I will you one of these days, sounds like we may need to talk birds again :IBCOOL:.
Congrats on the new pup, hope it is all you are hoping for, David

Last December my 5yr old hunting partner got out and was hit and killed too. My wife convinced to get another right away and I'm glad I did. I have another hunting partner already and she's exceeding my expectations for being less than a year old. Next week I'll recieve my custom carved drake redhead mantle urn. I can't think of a better way to honor her. Congrats on a new hunting partner, pups are so much fun!

Kalle was from Teddy. Easy around the house, hard worker in the field, and a solid pointer. Gawd, I miss that dog!

I came up with some pics of the parents.

Nice! My lab is from Tiger Mt and he is awesome! Good blood lines out there.
-
I hate the roller coaster of emotions with dog ownership. Especially huntin dogs. I think they are extra special. Congratulations on the new up and enjoy the ride up the hill.
-
Nothing quite like picking up a new pup. Course they're cuter than snot and all, but once you get them home, It's like having a new born in the house again. Up all nights, cleaning messes regularly.......
Nothing like it...ENJOY!!
-
Tomorrow's the day. :whoo: I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

That's awesome only five more weeks till I pick up my pup
-
Have a great time tomorrow Old Dog! Great new beginning. Can not to see the just home pics .
It is a long wait Ridgerunner but oh so worth it!
Had our new little one at the vet today for the next round of shots, so far so good. The Mrs. is playing fetch with her right now (bed time soon) and man she loves this time of day. At 8 1/2 weeks she retrieves 15 or 20 times 2 to 3 times a day in the house and sleeps a LOT. She weighed in at 16 lbs of all chewy lab according to the vet :chuckle:.

That was just the crate I brought her home in. :chuckle: She has already inherited Kalle's crate.
Misty still has not made up her mind. :dunno: The puppy on the other hand thinks Misty is great.

Ok, Old Dog, it's been a couple weeks hows the New Dog?
-
Growing like a weed, and full of piss and vinegar. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: We had a bit of a set back with my adult dog, so the puppy, Jasmine is wearing one of those cones for a couple weeks, and Misty is wearing a muzzle.
At this point I am just working on the basics. Leash training and getting her to come to her name.. I'll post more pics if/when I get the camera fixed.

I finally picked up a new camera. Nothing fancy, just one of those tough point and shoot jobs. Anyway I took Jasmine to Alder Lake for some water work.
She's not afraid to put her head under water.

Very cool 8)
Just starting training a new pup myself.
They never cease to amaze me, even though I have trained numerous pups over the years.
One day they will have you believing that they could be a National Field Trial Champ by 18 mo and the next they have you on your hands and knees looking for their brain cuz you are certain it fell out somewhere. Always an adventure.
These days, I believe my number one goal in training is having fun. I am under no pressure to provide fast results, steady is just fine.
Have fun, your pup is beautiful.
