Title: BAck From the Frozen Woods
Post by: GregE on December 07, 2013, 11:27:45 AM
We set up ELK camp last Sunday  in a rainstorm expecting snow at 2500'.  That's fun enough but we have the trailer and bikes  as most of the roads are gated to non motorized or walk in only.

The original plan  was for 3 days - the season goes to Dec 15 and 30 in some units for deer.   Things looked good so we stayed the week and got back last night.  10 degrees at the trailer when we left so most of the 4-5 “ of snow is still there.  I saw 16 ELK today in four bunches Judy saw 7.  Had 6 feeding 40 yards from me

They opened the gates on WeyCo roads so the road hunters were all over and the gravel roads are compressed snow and ice now.  Judy and the Honda Ridgeline did real well pulling the slippery slopes.

More later after I  catch up with stuff.
