Title: Columbia River (Vantage)
Post by: Fieldp66 on December 07, 2013, 05:23:18 PM
We hunted on the river today and it was pretty slow.  The wind was blowing pretty good this morning in the pre shooting hours. After catching spray off the bow and developing a quarter inch of ice all over the boat (and us) we switch to plan b and ran down stream with the wind. We were going just a touch over idle speed going upstream and were still catching spray (it was going to take forever for us to get to plan A that rate).

We got setup 15 minutes before shooting time....the lights came on....and we got to watch a nice sunrise. There were no birds flying around at first light like we had experienced the last couple of weekends (we got 11 in about 3 hours last weekend). There were the normal rafts of coots swimming in the decoys but that was about it. We did bag one solo ring neck that came in hot but that was extent of the action.

I was wondering how others did today :dunno:. We didn't hear any other shots. PM me if you would like.

Did not hunt, but scouted the Crescent Bar area this afternoon.  It was not good my friend.   :sry:

Saw a lot of divers up by vantage while I was working there earlier this week.
